Tuckersmith Township is
experiencing a building boom
this year. At a council meeting
Tuesday, clerk James McIntosh
reported 81 building permits had
been issued valued at $1,787,880
compared to $419,678 in 1973 and
$364,600 in 1972.
Township residents will have
an opportunity to question their
members of council at a
ratepayers' meeting set for
Thursday, November 7.
When asked by the press
representative if he would let his
name stand for re-election,
Reeve Elgin Thompson said
because of "so many loose ends"
at Vanastra, he felt he should. He
has been on council for 18 years -
13 of them as reeve.
Deputy reeve Ervin Siliery will
seek re-election, He has been on
council 13 years - 2 as deputy
reeve. Councillors CIeve Coombs
with nine years and Lambert
Branderhorst with four years will
seek re-election.
Since the resignation of Vince
Fowlie in the summer there has
been a vacancy on council.
There will be a liquor vote in
the township as well for the 2,127
voters.
Because of deficiencies on open
work and on tile work on the
Rehorst drain, David Gerber of
Gerber Drainage Enterprises,
Gadshill, will put in 200 feet of tile
to remedy the situation on the
Martin-Pollman farm at RR 3,
Seaforth.

A specialist in correcting
speech disorder, Dr. Seppo
Tuonri of University Hospital,
London, will do diagnostic
screening of children in the.
board's Huron County schools
who have been identified by
teachers and principal as having
speech disorders, at St. James
School in Seaforth on Thursday,
October 31.
After diagnosis the children
will be referred to clinics in
either London or Kitchener.

deal of interest to trustees...
"but they are not invited, are
they?"
Mr. Vintar agreed that trust-
ees weren't invited and said
that there will be a similar
conference set up for trustees
in the future.

Volunteers from the Goderich
Township Women's Institute
along with a new volunteer,
Mrs. Hulley, of Winthrop,
assisted with Monday afternoons'
activities. Mrs. Maitland
Driver and Molly Cox joined
Norman Speir and Jerry Collins
to provide the Old Tyme music
for the occasion. A new resid-
ent, Mrs. Grasby, of Seaforth,
was welcomed to the Home.
Mrs. Ross Iloggarth of Blue -
vale arranged the "Family
Night" program with talent
from the surrounding area.
Three young violinists, Kevin
Machan, Jack Whytock and
Kevin Hoggarth played as a
group as well as solo numbers
accompanied by Ivirs. Hoggarth,
Clark Johnston sang several
Irish and Scottish numbers and
Patricia Hoggarth played two
piano solos.
Percy Vincent, a former
resident of Bluevale thanked
the entertainers on behalf of
the residents.
There will be some changes
in the next couple of weeks in
the "Family Night" programs.
Hallowe'en being on a Thurs-
day, a party is planned in the
afternoon which will replace
the regular "Family Night"
program. -On the first week of
November the "Family Night"
program is being held on Wed-
nesday, November 6, at '7 p.rn,

The Qatario School Trustees
Council is offering an in-serv-
ice training course, for trustees
after the December 2 election,
the board was told. They dec-
ided to discuss the course furth-
er at their first meeting in Dec-
ember.
Trustee Howard Shantz of
Stratford was nominated to
attend a Ministry of Education
Conference on Evaluation on
Wednesday, November 20,
The Ontario Separate School
Trustees Association is seriously
evaluating it's relationship
with the Ontario School Trustees
Council, but is not going to
"pull out" of the council, the
board learned in a letter from
OSSTA president, E.J. Brisbois
of Toronto. The Council is
wade up of public and separate
trustee associations, including
the OSSTA, the Ontario Public
School Trustee Association,
the N. Ontario Public and
Secondary School Trustees
Association, and L'Association
Francais des Conseils Scholaire
d'Ontario.
