The community friendship
committee was in charge of
the Thank offering meeting of
Calvary United Church Women,
with Mrs. Eben Weigand chair-
lady. Judy Mason sang a solo.
Mrs. Letta Taylor read a Thanks
giving reading. Bob Fry, man-
ager of ARC Industries was
guest speaker giving informat-
ion on the work at the Adult
Rehabilitation Centre.
° Mrs. Mervyn Tiernan, presi-
dent, was in charge of the
business. Sunshine Bags are to
be brought in in November.
Nominating Committee for
November election is Mrs.
Stuart Wolfe, Mrs. Gerald
Mason and Mrs. Clayton Mern-
er. The Sunshine Committee
is Mrs. Greta Schade and Mrs.
Cliff Penhale.
FOWL SUPPER
Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid
held their annual fowl supper
Wednesday, October 9 with
group III and Mrs. Ray Van-
Dorsselaer, convenor, in
charge. During the dinner
Sherrie Stade played the piano
and Carol, Barbara and Brenda
Rader played musical numbers.
John Daniels, Kitchener, show-
ed films and spoke on the Luth-
eran Hour. Mrs. Arnold Becker,
president, conducted a brief
business meeting. The Akar
Guild is Mrs. Harry Hayter
and Mrs. Ernest Koehler.
Tammy Rader, of Goderich
spent the weekend with her
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Elgin Rader and Brian.
Dr. and Mrs. A. C. Whittier
and family, Mississauga and
Miss Irma Wein, Clinton spent
the holiday with Mrs. Hilda
Wein.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Miller,
Brenda, Charlotte, and Karen
of Zion; Mr. and Mrs. John
de Niet and Tina, Willowdale;
Paul Rader and Susan Van Wyck,
London, and Mr. and Mrs.
Dave Rader and Stacey spent
Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs.
Irvin Rader.
Mr. and Mrs. Clare Love and
family, Sarnia; Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Lobb and family, Clinton;

term or dropping out. Reeve
Jack Turkheitn told council he
would not seek re-election for
that office, while councillors
George Haggitt and Isidore
Laporte --both said they have
been thinking of dropping out
of office. Councillors Leroy
Thiel and Fred Haberer both
said they were not definite as
to their plans.
Clerk Armstrong pointed out
to the council that nominations
this year will take place from
November 7 to 12, and any
candidates must pick up a form
and have it signed by at least
10 nominators.

Bayfield
The October meeting of the
Ladies Trinity Church Guild
was held Tuesday evening
October 8, presided over by
the president, Mrs. Ruby
Fitzsimons. She read a beaut-
iful poem entitled "Everyday's
Thanksgiving" and also read
the Gospel, 6 Chapter St.
Luke. The Lord's Prayer was
. then repeated in unison. Twelve
members answered the roll call.
Mrs. Greta Scotchmer read her
secretary's report and moved it';
adoption. Many cards of thanks
for flowers, get well and symp-
athy.were received and moved
for filing. Mrs. Bessie Hulls,
card and flower secretary gave
her report on cards and flowers
sent out. She has done her work
very conscientiously, finding
out names of folk we wished
to be remembered from the
church, some of whom the
Guild members didn't know
were ill or bereaved ..-We do
thank her for a job being well
done.
