4-H GIRLS CLUB
The fourth meeting of the
Hensall I "Helping Homdmak-
ing Hostesses" and Hensall II
was held on Tuesday evening
at the Hensall United Church.
The meeting was opened with
the pledge. Nine club memb-
ers answered the roll which was
"Something I would like in a
guest room." Dues were paid
and hostess files were discussed,
also book covers and reference
sheets. Sandwiches were discus-
sed under the direction of the
leaders and the girls were giv-
en the chance to eat them. A
tea was held with the girls
using the sandwiches that they
themselves had prepared.

Mrs. Harvey Hyde, Presid-
ent of the W.M.S. of Carmel
Presbyterian Church presided
at the Thanksgiving meeting
recently and opened the prog-
ram with a Thanksgiving poem
and scripture from Luke. Mrs.
Harry Snell presided when the
Horne Helpers assisted with the
program and led in prayer,
followed by meditation and
devotional taken by Mrs. M.
Glanville, Mrs. Ester Wright
and Mrs. Myrtle Dick. Mrs.
Bertha MacGregor gave a read-
ing entitled "Harvest and
Thanksgiving Season." Mrs.
Percy Campbell acted as sec-
retary in the absence of Mrs.
Glenn Bell. Arrangements
were made for members to att-
end the Fall Rally in Knox
Church, Goderich which was
held October 9. Mrs. Hyde
closed the meeting with a
poem "Loving Thy Neighbour, "
and prayer. Mrs. Ruby Hogg-
arth will be in charge of the
November 4 meeting. Mrs.
Earl Campbell, who celebrat-
ed her 55th wedding anniver-
sary, was presented with a gift
by Mrs. Edgar Munn on behalf
of the quilting group. Follow-
ing the meeting, Mrs. Clarence
Volland presided for the Ladies
Aid meeting, and opened the
meeting with prayer. Arrange-
ments were made for the ann-
ual bazaar on November 2.
Install new slate
Mrs. Aldeen Volland, Noble
Grand of Amber Rebekah Lodge
No 349, Hensall presided for
the annual meeting and was
assisted by the vice grand,
Mrs. Margaret Consitt. Mrs.
Jean Bridge, District Deputy
President of Huron District No
23 and her installing staff and
members from Brussels were
guests.
Jr. PNG Mrs. Irene Black-
well presented the DDP, Mrs.
Bridge, to the Lodge. Mrs.
Dorothy Corbett, treasurer, gavE
the semi-annual report of the
Lodge, and Mrs. Margaret
Consitt reported for the visiting
committee. Mrs. Olga Chip -
chase PNG announced tickets
were available for the Grand
Masters Banquet on October 17
at Brucefielcl school.
Mrs. Sarah Stephenson of
Brussels read the Commission
for the Assembly president;
Mrs. Grace Love for the District
Deputy President, lvlrs. Jean
Bridge. Mrs. Mary Lowe, Ward-
en, conducted the installing
staff and Mrs. Verna Thomas
Pianist, arid Mrs. Sarah Steph-
enson, soloist.

ressed the Lodge on the assemb-

Jr. PNG, Mrs. Aldeen Volland
presented Mrs. Bridge with a
gift, and the DDP presented
Mrs. \Tolland with the gift of
a ring and also presented Mrs.
Vera Lemruon with a twenty-
year jewel.
The Noble Grand, Mrs: Ber-
nard of Brussels spoke briefly
and Mrs. Emma Campbell of
PERSONALS
Mrs. Margaret Kinghorn,
formerly of Florida, who has
been a resident of Yorl< Cresc-
ent in Ilensall for the past two
years, disposed of her property
to the Cottrell's of Exeter and
left recently to take up resid-
ence in California,
Mr. and Mrs. Alan Bushe
and family of Dorchester visit-
ed over the weekend with Mr.
and Mrs. Bert Morton.
Sim and Mary Roobal and
Mrs. Audrey Christie attended
the McGregor -Denys wedding at
Bayfield on Saturday.
UNITED CHURCH NOTES
Hensall United Church was
beautifully decorated with
fruits and vegetables and corn
for the Thanksgiving service
Sunday morning. Rev. Don
Beck preached on the sermon
topic "The Thanks Therapy, ".
and the choir sang the anthem
"Praise, 0 Praise our God and
King, " accompanied on the
organ by Mrs. Turkheitn.
Pride of Huron Lodge, Exeter,
congratulated the installation
staff and officers. Following
a penny sale, a social hour was
enjoyed by everyone in the
lower hall.
