TOP DAIRY CALF - Mary Ellen Steckle, R. R.1, Zurich„
was the winner in the dairy calf competition at the Zurich
4-1-1 Calf Club shown on Monday, in conjunction with the
annual Zurich Fall Fair. As well as having the top calf, Mary
Ellen was the top showman in the dairy division, as well.

A large crowd attended Varna
Anniversary service at which
Rev. Alexander Taylor conduct-
ed the service and the junior
choir led in the singing.
The Sellwood Gospel Singers
of Toronto preserved a few
numbers. At night, a concert
was given by the Sellwood
Singers.
Mr. and Mrs. Murray Morr-
ison and son were visiting rel-
atives in the area.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred McCly-
mont and Mr. and Mrs. Elgin
McKinley were Sunday visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Mc-
Clymont.
Miss Janice Turner, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Turner,
is taking Registered Nurses'
Assistance training at Wingham
District Hospital this year.

Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Guenther
returned home last week from
a nine day Battlefields Tour
with World War I Veteran's in
Holland, Belgium and France.
They also had a six day tour
of Scotland visiting Edinburgh,
Glasgow, and Isle of Skye.
It was much enjoyed by Mr.
and Mrs. Guenther.
Miss Sharon Rader and
Bill Bennett, London, spent
the weekend with Mr. and
Mrs. Irvin Rader.
Mrs. Mervyn Tiernan, Mrs.
Irvin Rader, Mrs. Martha
Weigand, Mrs. Stuart Wolfe,
Mrs. Martha Miller, Mrs. How-
ard Maier, and Mrs. Bill Ber-
ends, members of Dashwood
W.I. accompanied by Mr. and
Mrs. Ross Love and Mrs. Helen
Grieves, were at Huronview
last Wednesday where they
entertained at the monthly
birthday party and presented
gifts to the 28 residents having
September birthdays.
Dashwood Women's Institute
won first prize at Exeter Fall
Fair; second at Zurich Fair.
Darlene Rader and Theresa
MacKenzie were hostesses for
a bridal shower for Ginger Love
at Darlene's home. Guests were
employees of the Bank of Mont-
real, Exeter Branch. Joanne
Dinney did flower arrangements
which Ginger won in a draw.
She was recipient of many
lovely gifts for which she
thanked all, A dainty lunch was
served by the hostesses.
Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Wolfe,
accompanied by Mr. and Mrs.
Eric Wolfe, Tim and Tracy,
London were visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. Roy Wormington,
in Bluevale on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Seigfried
Miller and family, Port Dover,
were Sunday guests with Mrs.
Martha Miller.

HISTORICAL MEETING
The Huron County Historical
group held their meeting at
Dashwood. Community Centre
Monday, September 23. Presi-
dent, D. McClure welcomed
everyone and following reports
turned the meeting over to
Mrs. Gordon Bender, president
of Dashwood W.I. who introd-
uced Jack Gaiser and Stanley
Haist and they favoured with
several duets accompanied by
the guitar played by Stanley.
Guest speaker, Mrs. Irvin Rader
outlined the history of Frieds-
burg. She also had pictures,
scrapbooks and the Dashwood
Tweedsmuir History book on
display.

The regular monthly meeting of the
Village of Zurich, which was scheduled for
October 2, will be held on Wednesday,
October 9, at 1 p.m.
