Warning to
Huron farmers
(by Adrian Vos)
The Huron Federation of Ag-
ricuixure reports that they have
several complaints from farm-
ers about the practices of two
steel building companies. The
companies concerned are "
Wonder Steel Buildings" and
"Canadian Building Systems."
The procedure of these firms
is to ask for a whopping big
down payment when signing the
contract. Then, when delivery
is made of the first shipment a
further payment is demanded
to be in the form of a certified
cheque. This before the ship-
ment is unloaded and can be
checked for completeness and
damage.
Farmers who balked at paying
without being able to check had
the shipment withdrawn with the
companies refusing return of the
big down payment. Others who
accepted the conditions, found
upon checking that essential
items are missing.
Promises to correct the trouble
have so far not been fulfilled.
.In other cases the company
claims that the ordered steel is
in short supply and will substit-
ute colored steel at a much
higher cost.
Farmers are advised not to
pay more that $100 as a sign of
good faith when signing a cont-
ract as is the practice in most
bona fide companies, and to

To the Sports Editor
Dear Sir;
As the hockey season draws
near, referees arein demand,
and again this year we are
seeking men and women who
' wouldbe interested in refereeinE
hockey.
I am looking for people who
have had experience in refer-
Being and those who would be
interested in learning,
are many referee's

referees need
clinics around this year put on
by the C.A,H. . and the
O,M,H.A, which one has to
attend to referee hockey.
If anyone has had experience
in refereeing that would like to
referee or any boy or girl 14
years of age or older that would
like to learn, please contact
myself, Pat O'Brien, referee -
in -chief, Hensall, 262-2615
as soon as possible.
There is a great opportunity
for a hockey referee, as the
N.H.L., W,H.L. as well as
the O,H.A. are all looking for
referees, but you have to start
your training early.
Even if ou are ing
hockey the still
program set up by
the C.A.1-I,A, can benefit you
because you will know the rules
of hockey.
Exeter, Huron Park, as well
as Hensall, Grand Bend and
Zurich have the best Minor
Hockey Associations in the
district. Everyboyhas the
opportunity to play hockey.,;
The coaches are becomingthe
best trained in Ontario.
The referees in this area are
all well trained too. To referee
games, an official must have
a card. Therefore he must art-
end these clinics to obtain one
and he must attend every year.
So every official is qualified
to referee that game, and it is
upto the coach or manager to
g
check his card to verify this,
A few rule changes which
willbe in O,H,A, games this
year and most likely minor
hockey will be that a butt end
or spearing penalty will be a
match penalty, this means that
a player who receives one can't
play again until the league says
so, and most likely there will
be tougher penalty for high
sticking in minor hockey games
In this area we have no
...v.. .t
problems as to violence, be -
cause we all work together and
we have to work together to
train our officials, coaches ant
parents to stop violence in our
hockey games.
This year lets cheer for the
good plays and good sports -
manship and lets give the ref-
eree a pat on the back for he
is doing a good job too.
