Ask permission
for lottery
Tuckersmith Township will
ask all municipal councils in
Huron County for permission
to sell lottery tickets in their
tnwnicipalities this year.
Township council agreed last
Tuesday night to make the
request. It hopes to raise $35,
000 for enclosure of a proposed
swimming pool at Vanastra to
provide a year-round facility.
The lottery, sponsored by Van-
astra recreation committee,
has received govertuuent appro-
val. Top prize will be a car.
Reeve Elgin Thompson also
cold council that Ted Thurston
of Copper Cliff has been hired
as recreation director for Van-
astra.
Meanwhile, a five -man
delegation front Seaforth asked
council for a $1, 000 grant to
cover the township's share of
recreation costs in Seaford'.
Council acknowledged that
Township residents be nefit from
recreation facilities provided
by the town, but decided to
defer action until a report is
received from Huron County
council's recreation study
committee.
Township animal control
officer Dick Eisler announced
a "crack -down" on dog owners
who have nor paid the dog tax.
Mr. Eisler said he and a town-
ship official will be making
door-to-door checks.

Brig. G.L,M. Smith and
Ernest Hovey were present at
the regular Bayfield Village
council meeting, Wednesday
evening, and questioned coun-
cil as to their duties as Com-
mittee of Adjustment members.
A letter front the Iluron
County health Unit stated that
they had dye -tested the septic
tank and tile system at the
Municipal Building and found
no leakage and felt the system
was adequate to support the
Senior Citizens llousing Unit.
Also the well water had been
tested and found to be oI<ay.

to Reg Wilson for acting as
clerk while clerk Gord Graham
was indisposed; discussed the

for road foreman John Lindsay
and felt information on hand was
inadequate. The clerk was asked
to obtain more information for
discussion at a subsequent meet-
ing. They alsodiscussed at
length the accidents that had
occurred at the curve on high-
way 21 and Clan Gregor Square
on Labor Day weekend, and
decided again to advise the
Ministry of Transportation and
Communications of this danger-
ous curve, In previous corresp-

not warrant a flashing signal.
