The proprietor of the Hill
Crest Dairy, Zurich, C.
Schrag, has made another
improvement in his method of
delivering his products by using
the bottle system.
On Saturday noon, word was
received that the fine bank barrel
and straw shed belonging to
Milne Rader, Lot 10, con. 15,
Hay Township, was all ablaze,
starting from the straw stack
at the east side of the barn.
Miss Anna Datars, of Hay
Township, is assisting Mrs.
V, Siebert in her millinery
parlors.
Dan Gascho received some
body injuries the other day
while threshing that have laid
him up for a while.
Mr. J. Preeter, of Zurich,
has exchanged his -general store
business to Mr. Albrecht, of
New Hamburg, who will be
Zurich's new Merchant.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kalb-
fleisch and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest
Magnee, of Detroit, were hol-
iday visitors at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. R.F. Stade, in
Zurich.

Mr. and Mrs. Milton Oesch,
and Mr. and Mrs. Menno Oesch
spent the weekend at the
home of their brother, Ivir.
John Oesch, Pigeon Michigan.
Mrs. Clara Decker, of Zur-
ich, and her daughter Vera,
of Exeter, Mr. and Mrs. Morl-
ey Witmer and family, of Det-
roit, and Misses Norma and
Florence Steinbach enjoyed a
motor trip to Niagara Falls
and other places of interest
over the weekend.
With the opening of school
this past Tuesday we note the
following from this vicinity
attending high school at Exeter:

Mr. and Mrs. Alan Steckle
and family spent the weekend
with Mr. and Mrs. J. Smith
at Markham, Mr. and Mrs.
Menno Steckle Sr., who had •
been visiting their daughter and
family at Markham, returned
home.

Miss Joyce Mousseau has
left for London where she is
attending Well's Academy.
Ross Gascho, of the Canad-
ian Navy, is holidaying at his
home in Zurich.
Gordon and Stanley Smith,
Ted Haberer, Lorne and Herb-
ert Klapp have returned from a
pleasant fishing trop in the
Parry Sound district.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Thiel
and family and Mr. and Mrs.
E.E. Weido and family enjoy-
ed the weekend on a motor
trip to Niagara Falls and other
places of interest.
Miss Phyllis McBride has
returned from a teachers' tour
of the Western Coast, Florida
and California. She has resum-
ed her duties at the Brucefield
School west.
Miss Audrey Heiwrich, of
Zurich, has returned to Blake
school for another term.

The 1 -lay Township area
board, at a special meeting last
Friday night, set the Mill rate
for 1964, salve as last year.
Commercial taxpayers will
pay 10 mills for public school
purposes, while the residential
rate is 9 mills.
Premier John P. Robarts
had a three -fold interest as he
turned the first sod in last
Friday's official sod turning
ceremonies at the site of the
Lake Huron water pipeline at
Port Blake at the west end of
Highway 83.
David Buchanan, 19 -year old
son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith
Buchanan, Hensall, was award-
ed a Kinsmen Club bursary of
$200 and was presented with
the cheque. He was a top stud -

91 years old
A Hay Township native, Mrs.
Mabel Hudson celebrated her
91st birthday recently. Mrs.
Hudson, who is in quite good
health, still lives on her own
in her liigh Street apartment,
in Seaforth.
She was born Mabel Aldora
Melick on August 17, 1883.
Her parents were the late Justus
and Sarah Melick. She married
the late Isaac Hudson in Nov-
ember 1902. They farmed near
Ilillsgreen, then in the Alberta
region of Western Canada,
and lived in both Zurich and
McKillop Township before
settling in Seaforth in 1921.
From 1921 until Mr. Hudson's
death in 1954 they ran an Egg
Grading Station. Mrs. Hudson
helped stamp the eggs which
were shipped overseas in these
days.
Mrs. Hudson had a family
of five children. They are
Leonard R., Toronto, Doreen,
(Mrs. Wilfred Coleman), R.R
4, Seaforth and E.M. Hudson,
of Windsor. A daughter, Alice
Mrs. Dalton Diegel died in
1970 and a son, Bernard, died
when the Hudson's lived out
West.
Mrs. Hudson has seven grand-
children and 10 great grand-
children. She has been a
member of Northside United
Church for the 53 years she has
lived in Seaforth. As well,
she is a life member of both
the Seaforth Women's Institute
and the UCW of Northside.
Last year on her 90th birth-
ent in grade 13 at South Huron
High School.
The Zurich Girl Guides will
resume their meetings on Tues-
day, September 15, at the home
of Mrs. Stewart Deitz.

ed but ripening is still slow.
Warm weather is needed to
mature beans and corn.
