Golden Glimpses .
V . . 0
These are the amber days of
autumn loveliness, like people
who have mellowed with the
years, and whose days hold the
garnered richness of wisdom
and remembering.
As I mentioned previously,
the fall season starts us back on
a schedule again and we look
forward to the various special
holiday celebrations that come
with the fall and winter months.
On Wednesday evening, the
Ladies Auxiliary began their
fall schedule by hosting the
September birthday party. Mrs.
Gertrude Fleischauer, Mrs.
Mary Gingerich and Mrs. Pearl
Gingerich were the committee
in charge. The program began
with a sing -along after which
bingo was played. Residents
having birthdays during the
month of September are Mrs.
Maude Berry, Mrs. Sarah Doug-
las, Mrs. Mary Doerr, Mr.
James Eagleson, Mr. Fred Gib-
son, Mr. John Jones, Miss Jane
Lamont, Mrs. Edna McFarlane,
Mrs. Ada Porter, Mrs. Anne
Rehm, Mrs. Alice Traquair.
Birthday gifts were distributed,
courtesy of the Ladies Auxil-
iary, followed by a delicious
lunch.
We wish to thank Mr. Alvin
Steckle for his generous donat-
ion of apples and pears and Mr.
and Mrs. Elgin McKinley for
their treat of corn on the cob.
On Thursday afternoon, the
residents enjoyed a bus ride
to the Clinton and Goderich

Insurance protection
for farmers
Farmers who direct -seed
forages in the fall inay now
insure their planting against
establishment failure.
Under the New Seeding Plan,
available from the Crop Insur-
ance Commission, Ontario
Ministry of Agriculture and
Food, a farmer may protect
himself against all weather
hazards, including winterkill,
which might damage his new
seeding. Insurance purchased
to protect seeding this fall
extends until May 30, 1975.
In the event that new seeding
does not become established
and is destroyed by the farmer,
the indemnity to the farmer
is $17.50 per acre for each
acre destroyed. A four -acre
minimum applies. The cost
to the farmer is only 50 cents
per acre, but all acres seeded
in the fall must be insured.
Many farmers were not able
to seed down all the acres they
had planned this past spring.
As a result, they will be seed-
ing their forages this fall to
ensure a continuing supply of
hay and pasture in 1975.
