Plan covered pool at Vanastra A covered swimming pool has been approved for Vanastra, and it will be the first covered pool in Huron County available for year-round public use. Tuckersmith council at a special meeting last Monday night said yes to the scheme to cover the recently completed 25 metre pool at Vanastra at a cost of $35, 000. The cost of covering will not be born by the Vanastra tax- payers because officials from the Vanastra Recreation Com- mittee hope to finance it with a lottery. Work on the building is exp- exted to begin by November 1, and the pool should be ready for use by the first of next year. Tuckersmith also gave their approval to a scheme to renov- ate the Vanastra Community Farmers covered for losses Farmers whose livestock are killed or injured as the result of negiligence by a hunter can receive up to a maximum of $500 per head for cattle and horses and $100 for swine, sheep and goats under the Ontario Hunter Damage Comp- ensation Act. In addition, damage to farm machinery by hunters may be claimed under this Act, which is administered by the Live Stock Branch of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food. An owner wishing to make a claim under this legislation should contact the county or district office of the agricultur- al representative. In the case of livestock damaged or killed by dogs, owners should apply through the local municipal clerk for compensation available under the Dog Licensing and Poultry Protection Act. Where wolves are responsible, the damages should be reported to the District Forester of the Ministry of Natural Resources who can arrange for compen- sation under the Wolf Damage to Livestock Compensation Act. Mr. Lehnen said that the Recreation Committee is also hiring a recreation director, who will begin work next month. Once all the renovat- ions are complete, Mr. Lehnen said, Vanastra will have the best recreational centre in Huron County and he said it may even be better than Stratford's YMCA.
