where they will visit with Mrs.
Walper's son, William.
Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Haberer
and family, Mr. John Turk -

Haberer and Lenora are away
up north on a motor trip.

accepted a position in the Zur-
ich branch of the Banl< of Mont-

Mr. and Mrs. Allan Gascho
and daughter Linda spent Sun-
day visiting with relatives and
friends in Wardsville.

A one-armed 1-Iensall truck
driver was rescued from drown-
ing Tuesday after his truck
crashed through a wooden
bridge and landed upside down
in three feet of water in Nine
Mile River, five miles north of
Lucknow. With water only
eight inches from top of the
cab, driver George Beer man-
aged to stick his head out of
the window above the water
until help carne.
Troopers Bob Forrester and
Bob Fisher, of Petawawa Camp,
spent two weeks at the homes
of their parents, Mr. and Mrs.
William Forrester and Mr. and
Mrs. Ray Fisher, near Zurich.
Miss Marion Yungblut has
returned to Zurich after a vac-
ation with relatives in Detroit.
Mr. and Mrs. Leo Meidinger
and children and Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon Bedour, of Goderich,
spent several days with relat-
ives and friends in Detroit.

Workmen are busy this week
putting the finishing touches to
the memorial pillars at the
Community Park in Zurich.
Dial switching equipment is
now being installed in the new
telephone buildings in both
Hensall and Seaforth, in prep-
aration for the introduction of
dial telephone service in Nov-
ember.
Mr. and Mrs. Lang Foster,
of Zurich celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary on
Tuesday, August 18.
Hensall fire department
were called to a fire four miles
east of the village in Usborne•
Township Saturday afternoon,
but were unable to save a large
outboard motor boat owned
by Laverne Hamilton, of Sea -
forth.
At a special meeting of the
Hay Township council last
Thursday night, the tender of
Dominion Road Machinery,
Goderich, for a new grader,
was accepted. The price of the
new machine is $20,377.52.
