Fresh Ontario sweet corn is one
of the promises of summer, and
it is estimated that more than
43,000 acres of sweet corn will
soon be harvested. Most of the
acreage will be picked mechan-
ically and expressed by truck
to processing plants for canned
and frozen products. A smaller
portion (5,774 acres in 1973) is
grown for the fresh market and
will be available in season from
farmers' markets, roadside
stands and supermarkets, ready
for summer meals and corn
roasts.
