Miss Norma Hey visited with friends on the Goshen Line over the weekend. Dr. W,B, Coxon attended the veterinary convention at Guelph a few days last week. Mrs. Bertha Bloch returned home to Zurich after a pleasant visit in Detroit. The first signs that Zurich is on a provincial highway are evident as workmen are engag- ed in putting up the regulation signs. Mr. Clarence Sopha, of Detroit, spent Sunday with his parents on the Bluewater north. 25 Years Ago Miss Kathleen Hess, who is at St. Joseph's Hospital, Londor. where she had an operation performed on her nose, is prog- ressing favourably. Dr. and Mrs. P.J. O'Dwyer have returned to Zurich after a two weeks' visit with the form- er's brother and wife in Winni- peg. Miss June Willert, of London, is visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Hess, in Zur- ich. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Bedard Jr., Mts. D. Bedard, Sr., and daughter Joanne, Mrs. Lawrence Bedard, and Mrs. Clarence Geoffrey motored to Midland on Sunday to attend the pag- eant held at the shrine. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Zimmer and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Farwell enjoyed a lovely drive to Midland on Sunday and attended the pageant at the shrine. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gascho and family, of Zurich, are holid- aying in the northern country. Mrs. Rudy Oesch returned to her home from Toronto where, she was a patient in the hospit- al. 20 Years Ago The families of Mrs. Mary Manson, Mr. and Mrs. Solo- mon Gingerich, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Erb spent an enjoyable Civic Holiday at Bayfield in the form of a family picnic. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Willert and family, of Sarnia, were - OF- YEARS GONE - BY- Monday visitors in Zurich. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hess, of Toronto, and Dr. and Mrs. Fred Hess, of Niagara Falls, are holidaying with the gents' mother, Mrs. Marie Hess, at Zurich. Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Stade have returned from a motor trip to Northern Ontario. They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kraft, of Detroit. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bedard and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Brisson and daughters enjoyed several days over the holiday season with relatives and friends in Detroit. Mrs. Bryce Mack visited with Mr. and lvirs. David Meyers in London this past week. Mr. Reg Illsley, of Lambeth, called on friends in Zurich Monday evening and attended the Lion's Frolic. 10 Years Ago The Hay Township School Area board has begun exprop- riation proceedings to obtain the property belonging to Miss Ruth and Bruce Church, direct- ly north of the present school grounds in the village of Zur- ich. At their regular meeting last week, the council of the Town- ship of Hay met with a delegat- ion wishing to open a Trailer Club on the farm of Leon Bed- ard, on the Bluewater Highway near St. Joseph. After 17 years of faithful service, II. W. Brokenshire has resigned as secretary -treasurer of the Hay Township School Area. He has served in the position since the formation of the area in 1047. Ratepayers in the village of Hensall will find their taxes considerably higher this year, due to an increased mill rate Dashwood Mr. and Mrs. Paul Watson and family vacationed at Ottawa, Montreal and Niagara Falls recently. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bruce, Windsor, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Waiper, Detroit, Mr. and Mrs. John Snyder, Brantford; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Vandahl, Douglas Diane and Earl and Lyn Wex- ler, Montreal spent the holiday with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hayt- er and family.
