Golden Glimpses

No doubt wuite a number of
our readers have been enjoying.
a vacation during the past
couple of weeks, and by the
date on the calendar, it won't
be long until vacations will be
at an end.
During the past week, res-
idents have been enjoying the
visits of numerous friends and
relatives who apparently are
visiting in the area and Mr.
Gibson has been kept busy with
sales of articles from the hobby
shop and tuckshop which have
taken quite a boost.
During the time we have
been absent from the news,
a number of our residents were
guests for the afternoon tea at
the cottage of Mrs. A.S.
Morton, Bayfield. Mrs. Elva
Metcalf and other friends
assisted her in serving afternoon
tea on the lawn. The lapping
of the lake shore and the fresh
lake air was refreshing for
those present and all felt it
was a delightful afternoon.
We wish to welcome new
resident; Mrs. Margaret Hun -
kin, formerly of Exeter and
Mr. Floyd Pridham, formerly
of St. Marys.
We are grateful to Mr. and
Mrs. Scotty Fox for the beaut-
iful fresh bouquets they have
been bringing to the home,
also Mr. and Mrs. Roy Erb
for the fresh vegetables.
We are pleased to have Mr.
Henry Flaxbard back with us
enjoying reasonable health
after a prolonged stay in the

Fatal accident
from combine
During the week of August 5,
a farmer moving his combine
down a relatively steep em-
bankment made the error of
raising his header to maximum
height causing the back wheels
to float, thus throwing the
momentum on the front of the
machine causing it to fall for-
ward, crushing the cab and its
occupant.
One should always try to
remember to keep manure
buckets and headers at a reas-
onable height. When moving
downhill, the extra weighr of
the bucket or header will cause
the machinery to tip forward.
Careful observance of this
safety rule could save your life.
