(by Sally Dietrich) Our track and field meet on Wednesday the 24th went off well. All the children had fun participating in the following events, dashes, softball and volleyball throw, high jump, running and standing long jump and for the senior boys, triple jump. Although some participants came out as the champs every - one was a winner as far as I am concerned. The following people were champs in each division; junior girls, Lori Meidinger, Barbara Smith, Carrie Sweeney. ENGAGEMENT Mrs. Alice Koehler, of Huron Park, is pleased to announce the engagement and forthcom- ing marriage of her daughter, Deborah Lyn Lockie, to Richard John Burdge, of Brucefield, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Burdge of Angus, Ontario. This activity will be a regular event on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Each Thursday the senior playground enjoys an afternoon of roller skating. The girls are now in the process of making seed pictures. Some morning next week we plan to take the juniors to the Pineridge Zoo at Grand Bend and if there is sufficient time, free play at the beach. I would like to thank our co- sponsors youth and recreation branch for their assistance in our program. Pork hostess at Seaforth The Huron County Pork Prod- ucers Association has embarked on an ambitious promotion program in the county. This year will see a repeat of the Pork Hostess Contest. All girls in the age group of 16 to 25 are eligible to compete regardless if they come from farm or town. The first three finalists will receive prizes of respectively $75, $50 and $25, with the winner to go to the CNE for the All Ontario Contest where the first prize is $300. Len McGregor of OMAF and the county secretary, Lloyd Ste- wart of Clinton, as well as the township directors, may be contacted to enter or to give more particulars. On August 29 the Annual Pork Barbecue will be held at Sea - forth where the hostess contest winners will be selected. This year's barbecue is expected to draw over 2000 visitors. A pork cooking demonstration will be featured at the Zurich Bean Festival while some event at the Blyth Tresher Reunion is being developed. Free pork recipes are distrib- uted throughout the county in most stores. Any store not cont- acted and who wishes recipes for their customers can obtain them from the county pork association.
