A BUSY SPOT - One of the busiest places in the area on Sunday afternoon was the beach at
St. Joseph, as many people searched for a cooler spot than their homes. Several hundred people
were taking advantage of the fine beach and cool water to keep away from the heat.
Dashwood
(continued from page 1)
little support was given this
plan.
Reinhold Miller summed up
the situation very well near the
end of the meeting when he
said, "are we so narrow minded
that we can't build for the fut-
ure. Let's get on with the proj-
ect."
The biggest diappointment to
the crowd came when they were
advised by the engineer that it
would take at least three or four
years before the project could
be completed. Most of those
attending were hopeful that the
water supply could be arranged
for in the very near future.
Stephen Township reeve
Joseph Dietrich presided over
the meeting, assisted by Doug
Riddell, chairman of the trustee
board of Dashwood. Also in
attendance were members of
the Stephen Township council,
as well as reeve Joseph Hoffman
of Hay Township.

the machine first. It is too easy

you possibly can to try and get
answers for the first time in
Canadian rate -making history
on the impact on customers,
he stated.
He told the Board that this is
the kind of information it
should have in order to make
some kind of assessment.
The questions which the ind-
ustrial customers will be asked
to answer deal with the nature
of their product, sales volume,
gross and net profits, number
of employees, the electrical
consumption, annual power
bills and monthly peak demand
for electricity.
W.R. Murray, counsel for
ADCOH, commented that be-
fore some of the member corp-
orations divulge the requested
information, some sort of perm-
ission or approval from some of
their senior executives may be
required. Many of the associat-
ion members are multi -nation-
al corporations.
Dr. R.H. Hay, representing
the Ontario Municipal Electric
Association, told the Board that
"not one of us, " referring to
the municipal electric utilities,
"is really in the position to
absorb this sort of increase with-
out some impact, some consid-
erable impact on our own cust-
omers."
The public hearings on Hydro'
rate proposals are now in their
sixth week and are expected to
continue for several more weeks,
