Wheat price increased
over. last year
The initial price to be paid
Ontario wheat producers for new
crop wheat (1974) has been
increased 50¢ per bushel over
the 1973 price.
Last year, the initial price
was established at $1.51 per
bushel. This year, the initial
price to producers effective the
1st of July is $2.01 per bushel.
The announcement was made
by the Ontario Wheat Producers'
Marketing Board July 4, which
also advised an increase in
carrying cost allowance to
producers has been established
for new crop wheat.
The pricing system for Ont-
ario wheat involves an initial
payment plus a schedule for
carrying costs escalated during
the year plus provision for an
interim payment or payments
during the year, plus a final
payment at .year end.
This year the carrying cost
provision has been increased
from a total 100 per bushel to
150. The initial payment plus
carrying costs by month is as
follows: July 1974, August and
September, $2.01; October
$2.01 plus 3¢ per bushel carry-
ing cost; November $2,01 plus
6¢; December $2.01 plus 9¢;
January 1975 $2.01 plus 12¢;
February and March and April
$2.01 plus 15¢; May $2.01 plus
7¢; and June $2.01.
There will be the usual 10
per bushel licence fee deduct-
ion from the initial payment
price to producers.
Marketing Board officials
also advised that two changes
have been made in the max-
imum rate discount schedule
and they are as follows: The
maximum discount for Grade
No 4 will be 25¢ per bushel
instead of 400 last year, and
for Grades No 1 and 2 Mixed

reunion was held Sunday, June
30, at Seaforth Lions Park
with 57 in attendance.
Following a most delicious
supper at 5 p. m. the sports

Drying charges remain the
same as last year and detailed
information concerning the 1974
crop is being mailed directly
to producers from the office of
the marketing board and distrib-
ution should be completed to
the province's approximate
18, 000 producers by July 10.
Harvest of new crop wheat
will begin abaht July 15, poss-
ibly a little earlier thaA'last
year and generally the crop is
considered to be good with
acreage estimated at about
387, 550 acres which could
yield approximately 16 million
bushels. Last year's crop has
been placed at 14. 8 million
bushels.

from the Stratford office of
Victoria and Grey, with his
