Zurich Mets lose two to Exeter
Even though they lost two
games to the powerful -Exeter
Expos in Huron -Perth League
competition during the past
week, the Zurich Mets continue
to show more promise in every
appearance. Last Friday night
in Zurich they came out on the
short end of a 12-5 score at the
local diamond, and then on
Sunday afternoon in Exeter they
fell behind 16-7.
On Friday night one bad
inning was the big difference in
the two teams, as Exeter came
up with five big runs in the
fifth. They also registered four
in the first inning.
The local squad scored two
runs in both the first and third
innings, and then added one
more in the seventh.
Paul Charrette was the big
man with the willow in Friday
nights game, cracking out two
singles and a double. Don
Ayotte singled twice, while
Gerard Charrette, Kevin Mc-
Kinnon and Percy Bedard each
came through with one single.
Dick Bedard went the route
on the mound for the locals,
and with a couple of more game
under his belt will be right
back where he was a few years
ago when he retired --a main-
stay on the pitching staff.
On Sunday afternoon the
locals came home with a 16-7
defeat, and once again one
big inning made a great deal
of difference between the two
teams. Exeter scored seven big
runs in the fourth.
Zurich scored one run in the
fifth and added two more in
each of the seventh, eighth and
ninth innings.
Glen Overholt sparked the
hitting barrage for the locals on
Sunday afternoon as he came up
with singles and a double.
John Mommersteeg hit safely
twice, while Paul Morrison
lashed our a double and Tony
Bedard and Percy Bedard each
came through with a single.
John Mommersteeg was on
the mound for the locals, and
received help along the way
from Aubrey Bedard, making
his first appearance in a pitch -

Name c • mmittee
to study hydro
A committee has been form-
ed in Huron County by commod-
ity and urban organizations to
study the impact of a power
plant on the county.
The committee, representing
thousands of families, plans to
look into a possible contribut-
ion to increased food prices, the
effect on agriculture, and the
ecological impact.
At the organizational meet-
ing last Thursday, in the board
room of the Ontario Ministry
of Agriculture and Food, it was
decided to concentrate on fact
finding first, so a convincing
case would be put forward either
for or against a power plant
in lluron's agricultural area.
The committee expressed the
wish that organizations and
individuals who are interested
and who wish to contribute
some input, contact the com-
mittee.
Adrian Vos, of Blyth was
elected as chairman.
