It was decided at the same
meeting to inform the Ontario
Housing Corporation that the
village would like them to
proceed with construction of
senior citizens housing units on
the original site picked, as
previously planned. Council
also is asking for a meeting
with the OHC management as
soon as possible.
A request was received by
the council from Mrs. Bernys
Finkbeiner asking for permiss-
ion to erect a fence around her
property adjacent to the Zurich
Community Centre grounds.
Council agreed with the req-
uest and further offered to cont-
ribute 50 percent of the costs
involved.
Building permits were issued
as follows; Dr. Grant Lee,
$42, 000; Mrs. Beatrice Rader,
$1, 000; Paul Ducharme, $550;
Dave Stark, $500.
An application for a building
permit from Jacob Deichert to
erect a verandah on the front
of his home was turned down,
since council felt the addition
would be closer than the 25 -
foot limit to the street line.
Also turned down was an appl-
ication from Elmer Oesch to
build a storage shed on his prop-
erty.

Will check fees
Grand Bend council is checking
into the possibility of raising the
fee for transient traders after
receiving a suggestion from a
village merchant.
In a letter council, Angelo
Maruca, owner and operator of
Angelo's Pizza said the transient
trader fee should be raised to
$1,000.
A fee of $200 now in effect is
charged all operators who do not
own the property from which
they carry on business.
Maruca said a lot of operators
come into Grand Bend "for only a
short time, make a quick dollar
and leave bad situations."

The weeks are slipping by
and soon we will be into mid-
summer. As I mentioned last
week, next week will be Sen-
ior Citizens' Week and we are
looking forward to a number of
activities planned for the resid-
ents.
The hot humid weather we
have been having is rather dep-
ressing for our older citizens.
We regret that Mrs. Gertrude
Harris and Mr. Henry Flaxbard
are patients at present in South
Huron Hospital, also that Mrs.
Arthur Brisson, president of the
Ladies Auxiliary, has also been
confined to hospital.

Letter to
Editor
Zurich Citizens News,
Zurich, Ontario.
Dear Editor;
The Huron historic Jail Board
is busy preparing for its first
season.
Part of this preparation incl-
udes putting together a display
of the works of the former
Goderich photographer, Mr. R.
Sa llows.
If any reader happens to have
any of Mr. Sallow's photos in
his possession we would apprec-
iate it very much if they would
allow one of our members to
come to their home to photo-
graph their original in order
that a copy can be used in this
display.
Kindly phone me at 524-9924
or write to me at the address
below if you can help --it will
be greatly appreciated.
Yours truly,
