Miss Esther Merrill completed
her first year of a two year
residence Councillor for retard-
edchildren's course at Georg-
ian College, in Barrie and is
presently at the home of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs, Ross
Merrill.
Mrs. G.L. Knight spent most
of last week with her cousin
Miss Rhea Stirling in London.
Her weekend guests included
her grandson Bill Latimer, of
Toronto and his fiance Miss
Ruth Fuhrmann, also of Tor-
onto,
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Guilfoyle
and family, Sarnia, and Mr.
Norm Brown and family, Lond-
on were at their respective cot-
tages for the weekend.
Mrs. Bonnie Curran, Christ-
ine and Barbara, Toronto spent
last week with her mother, Mrs.
Milton Pollock, Goshen Line.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Craig
were the guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Ross McMichael and Jack in
Oil City for the weekend.

the former's sister, Mrs. E.W.
Erickson, and family.
Mrs. R. Roy Fitzsimons att-
ended Open House Saturday,
May 25 at the home of Mrs.
Arnold Cann, Thames Road,
Exeter, in honour of her daugh-
ter, Judith, whose marriage
to Mr. Rick Parker, of Hensall
takes place on Saturday, June 1.

recently and was assisted by
Vice Grand Mrs. Margaret

ett, treasurer gave a financial
report and the Noble Grand
reported on the proceeds of the
Dessert Euchre and Bake Sale
held recently.

A service of celebration
marking the 126th anniversary
of Hensall United Church took
place Sunday morning in the

on the sermon topic "Christian
Fellowship," The McMillan
family, Don, Shirley, Ernie,
Eleanor and Elizabeth from
Goderich entertained by playing
several times on their musical
instruments, Mrs. Art Henwood
accompanied the family on the
organ. The choir. sang the
anthem "I was glad when they
said unto me" with Harry Hort-
on and Mary Goodwin taking
solo .parts. Next Sunday, June
2, will be the Sacrament of the
Lord's Supper, Confirmation
and the welcoming of members
from other churches, For this
service Sunday School sessions
have been cancelled but will
resume again June 9.

JAMES E, MacALLiSTER
At Galt, on Thursday, May
16, James Edison MacAllister
of 13 Dunhope Avenue, Galt,
retired Professional Engineer
with Babcock and Wilcox of
Canada Limited, passed away.
He was the dear son of the
late Charles MacAllister and
Hannah Sproat, and beloved
husband of Dorothy Andrews and
dear father of Dorothy (Mrs, J.
Buhr) of Kitchener, a brother
of Mrs. E.F. (Maud) Brooks,
Toronto, and grandfather of
Karen,
Private family service was
held on Saturday morning from
Littles Funeral Home, Galt -
Cambridge, with interment in
Trinity Cemetery.
HARRY ARMSTRONG
A well-known former R,R,1,
Exeter resident, Harry Armst-
rong passed away Sunday May
26 in Stratford General Hospital,
in his 49th year.
lie was the husband of the
late Gladys Batten; dear father
of Janice, of Vancouver, son
of Mr. and Mrs. George Arm-
strong, Hensall, and brother of
Mrs. Donald (Betty) Flear,
Grand Bend; and Mrs. Merlin
(Jean) Love, London.
The late Mr. Armstrong rest-
ed at the Bonthron Funeral
Chapel in Hensall where private
funeral service was held on
Tuesday, May 28, with Rev.
Donald Beck Officiating. Int-
erment was in Exeter Cemetery.
