Brock. The 80 by 45 -foot barn on Lot 1, Concession 15, contained 182 pigs as well as farm tools and machines. The farm is about four and one-half miles east of Hensall. Provincial police from God- erich said it's believed a heat- ing lamp, used to keep three- week- old piglets warm, may have caused the blaze. David Eckert, the young brother-in-law to be, and Marh Hoy presented Janet with bask- ets laden with lovely gifts for her home. Mrs. Janet Talbot assisted her in opening the gifts and her cousin, Mrs. Sherry Lee Farrell of R. R.2, Ripley, fashioned a dainty hat from the various bows and rib- bons taken from the parcels. The motto will be given by Mrs. R. Bell and Mrs. Cec- il Pullman will give a poem. The 4-H girls will entertain. Mrs. Grant McGregor is in charge of lunch. BRIDAL SHOWER Neighbours and friends, about 40 in number held a shower at St. Andrew's Church, Kippen, on May 1 to honour Debbie Ferris, bride -elect. Mrs. Lloyd Cooper chaired the program Mrs. Grant McGregor and Chris McGregor conducted interest- ing contests. Sandra and Shelley Finlayson gave step dancing numbers, Mrs Ross Broadfoot contributed piano selections. Miss Linda Workman read the address and the gifts were brought in by Shelley, Sandra, Sue Ann Fin- layson and Mary Jane McGreg- or. Debbie thanked everyone and lunch was served. 4-H CLUB NEWS The Kippen II Club led by Mrs. Angus Hummel]. and ass- isted by Mrs. Al Hoggarth has completed the 4-11 Club, "Tak- ing a look at yourself." The Seven Slickers consisting of Lynn Alderdice, Linda Bell, Shirley Chalmers, Suzie Hoorn- aert, Doreen and Joanne Van Wieren and Landa Visscher have all completed the club and are pleased with their projects which vary from Shower totes to laundry bags. During this club the girls and their leaders have discussed personalities, nail care, closets, storage, hair care, make-up and various related topics. An exhibit has been prepared for Achievement Day. The girls of this club would like to thank their leaders for their time, patience and effort and also thank K ippen East W,I, for sponsoring them. They would also like to invite all interested persons to Achievement Day to be held Dashwood Saturday evening guests with Mr. and Mrs. Lee Anderson wer( Mt, and Mrs. Chriii ophet Mart- in, Miss Amy Glavin, Huron Park, spent a couple of days last week with her uncle and aunt, Mr, and Mrs. Dave Rader. Mr. and Mrs. E. R, Guenther were in Drayton recently, for the funeral of Mrs. Guenther's brother-in-law, Charles Mc- Dowell, which was held at the McCaulay funeral home with interment in Victoria cemetery, Drayton. in Zurich, May 11 at 10 o'clock for the afternoon program. On April 25, Lynn Alderdice entertained the girl friends of Debbie Ferris at a miscellan- eous shower. Mrs. Ed Cudmore, Vancouv- er, sister of W, L. Mellis died May 5. Our sincere sympathy goes out to Mr. and Mrs. Mel - lis. Fire Departments from Hen- sall and Brucefield answered a fire call at Grant McGregor's when a straw sited took fire. 25TH ANNIVERSARY lvir. and Mrs. Floyd Guenther celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Saturday, May 4, with some 40 relatives and friends in attendance. The evening was spent in visiting and dancing followed by lunch. ' They were recipients of many lovely gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Taylor Kitchener, were callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Rader, Sunday. FIRST BROWNIE PACK The first Dashwood Brownie Pack meeting opened with a game of musical chairs with 15 Brownies in attendance. Mary Watson was the Fairy Queen. Tawny Owl and Snowly Owl called the girls into the Fairy Ring for the Brownie song, Six songs and Promise. A relay, putting on and taking off a coat and trousers was enjoyed. Brown Owl read a story and songs were sung during pow- wow. Craft time for the past two weeks has been devoted to making gifts for Mothers' Day. Brownie Cookie Day will be held in Dashwood area Friday and Saturday.
