Helen dealt with the role the women played at this time and just as they dealt with their doubts and lack of faith so should we in our time. Helen closed the devotion al with prayer and a hymn and also read a poem "The Wise Little Dog." Minutes were read and eleven members answered the roll call. Two visitors were present who entertained with two lovely duets. These visitors were Shirley Luther and Nan Britton and were accompanied at the piano by Helen Goddard. A report of the executive meeting held recently was giv- en and a beef bar -B -Q- is plan- ned for May 29. General meet- ing will be May 6 with Mrs. Jane Davidson of Brucefield the guest speaker. Verna Hay gave a very int- eresting and informative talk on the life and work of Dr. McClure, who surely illustrates in the highest degree the mean- ing, method and message of Christianity. Helen thanked all who took part in the meet- ing including the hostesses Jean Travers and Belva Fuss who served a delicious lunch. The meeting closed with the Mizpah benediction. PLAN BAKE SALE Sixteen members answered the roll call with a Bible verse from the Easter story when the Chisel- hurst U.C.W. held their April meeting last Tuesday. Mrs. William Brintnell presented the worship "His Living Presence," and Mrs. Ted Stoneman gave a reading "Spring House Clean- ing." An Easter film "Foorsteps to the Risen Christ" was pres- ented by Mrs. Russell Brock. Mrs. R. Taylor and Mrs. R. Harris volunteered for visiting for the next month. It was dec- ided to hold a bake sale on Saturday, April 27 at 3 p.m. in Irwins store in Hensall. The treasurer reported eight large and three small quilts had been quilted during the winter months A plant and bloomer sale will be held at the May Meeting. President Mrs. C, Coleman presided and closed the meeting with prayer. Hostesses were Mrs. H. Parker and Mrs. J. Brintnell. Unit II of Hensall United Church Women met Monday evening at the church for the April thank offering meeting. Grace Drummond acted as chairlady, and opened the meeting with a poem, "Behold the stone is rolled away." Joyce Pepper conducted the devotional using scripture from Luke and also using the last four United Church bulletins telling of the four images of Jesus Christ. She closed with a poem and prayer. The minutes of the March meeting were read and approv- ed. The roll call, answered by 15 members, was "an Easter Thought." The topic was very ably given by Lorna Chapman. She read a very interesting article from the Observer entitled "Facing death is an interesting Experience." a story about Bruce Marsh, a CBC announcer who waited for a heart transpl- ant. Mr. Marsh died on March 19 about 10 hours before a heart became available. Lorna also read a poem "Resurrection." Kay Mock told members about the Westminster week- end, May 31 to June 1, and also about Alma College being held from August 11 to 14. It was decided by the members to cater to a Midget D Hockey team banquet on April 17, at 6:30 p.m. The general meeting will be held on May 6, and Unit II is responsible to provide lunch. Jane Davidson of Brucefield is to be the guest speaker. The beef barbecue will be held on May 29. It was decided that because of the general meeting, Unit II will not have their regular May meeting. The Maymeet- ing schedule was reviewed and the meeting closed with the benediction, followed by an evening prayer. Everyone enj- oyed a game of flash cards of Bible places and events cond- ucted by Grace Drummond. Wilma Munn and Jeanette Turner, as hostesses, served a delicious lunch. Mrs. Laird Mickle; Mr. and Mrs. William Mickle and family, Charles Mickle; Mr. and Mrs. Brian Collins and Mrs. Florence Joynt were Easter Sunday dinner guests with the formers daughter and son-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Mac- Millan and family of Waterloo. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Collins, of Kitchener and Charles Mickle, of Hamilton visited over the weekend with their mother Mrs. Laird Mickle. Mrs. Robert Mickle, London was a recent visitor with Mrs, Laird Mickle. The winner of the three minute shopping spree or $50 draw; sponsored by the Hensall Kinette Club was won by Mrs. Ilene Cleave, of Bayfield. Mrs. Cleave chose the $50 instead of the shopping spree.
