Zurich couple married 50 years A very happy event took place at the Hay Township Hall, Zurich, on Saturday evening, March 30, when more than eighty friends and relatives reg- istered in a guest book presided over by Sharon and Ray Jacobi. Mr. and Mrs. Urban Pfile were entertaining on their 50th wedd- ing anniversary. Games were played during the early part of the evening. This was followed by a variety program chaird by Reg Hodgson and consisted of guitar and vocal solos by Maurice Love; a hilarious Mock Wedding, a delightful quartette "We'll Have to Mortgage the Farm, " addressed by Vic Dinnin, Milt Oesch and Oscar Greb, the best man of fifty years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Pfile were the recipients of many lovely gifts and cards including congratulat- ory messages from the Governor General and Madame Leger, Federal and Provincial govern- ments and the local members of Parliament, Bob McKinley and Jack Riddell. 0 Zurich needs (continued from page 1) Gerber Drainage Ltd. were given the contract for the open portion of the Rader -Hoffman drain at a price of $500, and the closed portion of the same drain for $1947. McKinley, Huron MP, told this newspaper Tuesday after- noon. Mr, McKinley added that claim forms are being sent across the country for producers to pick up and fill out. Payment on current market - lugs is being made through cattle buyers, rather than dir- ectly to the producers. I-lowever to obtain premiums on cattle marketed between March 4 and 17, producers must submit a claim form. They must also show proof of price received and verify that their animals were sold for immediate slaughter. Mr. McKinley also explained that because there will be no accurate method to determine the grade of the animals mark- eted between March 4 and 17, the premium has been pro -rat- ed at five cents per pound, to apply on all slaughter cattle with the exception of cows and mature bulls. Those producers who sold their cattle on a rail grade basis between March 4 and 17 may make their claim on a basis of $12.25 per cwt, for steers, and $12.50 per cwt. . for heifers grading A-1 and A-2, which is related to the seven cent live weight. A producer may only claim on the basis of either five cents on all A,B, and C live cattle sold for slaughter, or on a rail grade basis on A-1 and A-2. carcasses.
