INTERESTING HAPPENINGS IN ONTARIO'S PRETTIEST VILLAGE
Mr. and Mrs, Don Lance,
Main Street, have returned
from a week's trip to Cambridge
and Boston, Mass., where they
attended the marriage of their
son William to Miss Veronica
Quarry, of Boston and Long
Island. The wedding took place
on Saturday, March 23 at the
Memorial Church in the Harv-
ard Yard andthe reception
followed at the Harvard Faculty
Club. 13111, a lifelong summer
resident of Bayfield, is an att-
orney with Peabody, Brown,
Rowley and Storey, Boston and
his bride is in cardiac research
at Lemeul Shattuck Hospital,
Boston. They will live in Camb-
ridge but will be visiting Bay-
field this summer, as they did
last year. Mr. and Mrs. John
Cook of Ingersoll and Bayfield
were among the guests at the
wedding.
Brian Merrill, Richmond
Hill and Celine Landry, Miss-
issauga, spent Saturday with his
parents Mr. and Mrs. Ross Mer-
rill. Brian recently returned
from Forth Worth, Texas where
he attended a three week course
on field maintenance provided
by the Bell Helicopter Comp-
any. Sunday morning he flew
to Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Mrs. W. Morley and Robbie,
Cleveland, Ohio, were at their
home in the village fromFriday
until Tuesday; also Mrs. Robert
Peterka and daughter Margaret
of Cleveland, Ohio were with
Mrs. L.W. Scotchmer; and with
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baker and
Mrs. L.W. Scotchmer they all
attended the wedding of Karen
Mary Burt, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Howard Burt of Wood-
stock. The marriage took
place in All Saints Church,

Woodstock on Saturday, March
30 at 4 p.m. Mr. and Mrs,
Jack Pounder and Mary Beth of
Lambeth and Bayfield and Mr.
and Mrs. Jay Fisher, Bayfield
were also guests at the Smith -
Burt wedding.
Mr. and Mrs. Doug Deller,
Kerry and Scott or Erin were
recent visitors with her parents
Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Haw,
Mr. Norman F. Cooper,
Mount Clemens, Mich., spent
the weekend with his wife at
their village residence.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Knight
and girls and Mr. Gilbert
Latimer, all of Toronto were
with the former's mother, Mrs.
G.L. Knight for the weekend.
Mrs. George Reid, Varna, is
spending a few days with her
sister, Mrs. L.B. Smith.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Pen-
hald, Bayfield and Mr. and Mrs,
Bert Faber and Mr. and Mrs.
Kenueth Faber 'of Kippen, retur-
ned to their respective homes
on Sunday evening after an eighi
day visit in Hol land and Germ-
any. This trip was the first
that Mr. Bert Faber had taken
to his native land after coming'
here with his family fifty years
ago as a young boy. They visit-
ed his aunt and uncle and sev-
eral cousins in Croningen,
Holland and spent two days in
Amsterdam. Mrs. Penhale
said the weather was just perfect
the farmers were busy seeding
and the crocus and hyacinth were
in full bloom all over the
countryside, spreading a delight•
ful fragrance over the whole
country.

mer who is presently a patient
in Clinton Public Hospital.
Sympathy is extended to the
family of the late Ivir. J. Cou-
ch who passed away last week.
4-1-1 CLUBS
Bayfield Groomettes 4-H
Club was held at the home of
Mrs. Brandon on March 25.
The meeting opened with the
pledge and motto, conducted
by Terri Weber. The roll call
was "One good grooming habit
I will practice." Everyone
answered this. We discussed
our skit for Achievement Day.

Mrs. Merner discussed the stor-
age in our bedrooms, and she
helped us fill out our handout
sheets, "A place for everything"
Mrs. Brandon tested us for our
maximum comfort reach for
storage. The next meeting will
be at Mrs, Merner's .
MRS. CARRIE HEARD
The village was saddened on
Tuesday, March 19, when they
learnedofthe passing of firs.
Caroline (Carrie) Heard.
Mrs. Heard was born in Stan-
ley Township on December 2,
1902, the only daughter of the
late George and Isabella (llohn-
er) Lawrason. She attended
school at S.S.3, Stanley.
She was married to the late
Nelson Heard, of Bayfield,
on February 8, 1921 and resided
on the family farm until Mr.
Heard passed away in 1991.
Mrs. Heard then took up resid.-
ence on Louisa Street in Bay-
field and resided there until
her death.
She was a faithful member of
Bayfield Senior Citizens and
held a positinn on the executive
of the Society; she was also a
member of Knox Presbyterian
Church, in Bayfield. The late
Mrs. 1-leard is survived by an
only son, Lloyd Heard, of Varn-
a, and three grandchildren,
Eddie, Terry and Anne Marie
of Varna. One brother, Samuel
Lawrason of Goderich, also
survives.
Funeral service was field on
Friday, March 22, at Knox
Presbyterian Church, Goderich,
assisted by Rev. George You-
matoff, Trinity Anglican Churcl
Bayfield, with interment in
Bayfield cemetery.
