I suppose we would have to say that March did go out like a lion. April is here with the April showers, the robins sing- ing early in the morning, but I haven't as yet heard the frogs. As usual, films were schedul- ed for Monday evening enter- tainment, followed by coffee and cookies. This week we were pleased to have Mr, Henry Flaxbar•d, Mr. Peter Eisenbach and Mrs. Isabella Westlake sufficiently recovered to return home from the General Hospital. Our Annuam Meeting was held on Tuesday evening. We had hoped for a better turn out, but several other activities were scheduled for the same time in the village and surrounding area. We were pleased to have Messrs. Howard Falls and Vict- or Marsh, Architects, present along with four students of Mr. Falls from Fanshawe College. Under the direction of Mr. Falls, the students built a miniature model of our proposed project planned for erection across the road from the Home. Each student had their own plans drawn up and explained their version of any differences from that of the model. We have the model here on display for any- one interested. We wish to thank the memb- ers of the Ladies Auxiliary who had charge of providing the sumptuous lunch following the, meeting. St. Peter's Lutheran Ch : reh Reny. A. C. The theme of the meetings will be: "Redeeming the Time" Guest Speaker, Paul M. Freed, Earlington Pa. "Sin had created an awful chasm between God and man, and the bridge that spans it must rest and spring from Cal-. vary." We invite you to worship with us SPRAY EARLY "Start your tree -spraying program early" is the advice, offered to fruit -growing enth- usiasts by Burke McNeill, horticulturist with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and )Food. "Big, healthy apples or pears are every grower's aim, " says McNeill. "So often, though, 4 disease and insects have taken hold ahead of the spray prog- ram and the fruit is disappoint- ing." There are many brand- name fruit tree sprays on the market designed to give compl- ete control of both insects and diseases. All contain a combin- ation of fungicides and insect- icides and are safe so long as gardeners follow manufacturers' instructions carefully. Timing is the critical factor. Spraying of apples and pears must start when buds are burst- ing and should be continued at regular intervals until the blossom petals fall off the tree. Once fruit begins to form, spray once every 10 days until mid- August. FRESH BUTT Pork Chops HOMEMADE PORK Sausage STORE- SLICED Cooked Ham 79' L[i LB 89c u .
