Bayfield council meet
(by Milvena Erickson)
At the regular village coun-
cil meeting Monday evening,
councillors received an invit-
ation from the Ausable-Bayfield
Conservation Authority to att-
end a "Conservation Slide Tour
1974" on Wednesday evening,
April 10, at the Authority
headquarters in Exeter. Coun-
cil went over the Authority's
financial report for 1973.
In other business the council
were informed by letter of a
meeting of the A. O.M.O. at
9:30, April 11, in the Court
House, Goderich, and also were
invited to a one day workshop
of the Association of Counties
and Regions of Ontario, to be
held at the Children's Aid
Society Office, in Goderich,
on Friday, April 19. The topic
for discussion will be "Restruct-
uring of Local Governments.
A letter from the county clerks
stated that Alex Chesney had
been appointed as Weed Inspect-
or for the County for 1974.
Another letter received was
from the Association of Munic-
ipalities of Ontario, stating the
various salaries paid to officials
in municipal governments in
Ontario; and also a letter from
the County enclosed was the
County Budget with the figures
for 1973. Bayfield's apportion-
ment in 1973 was $17, 879 and
on a per capita basis will be
$25, 279 for 1974.
In his report to council, the
reeve said that the Huron Coun-
ty Planning Committee had
passed the Official Plan for the
village and it would be passed
to Huron County Council for
their approval before going to
the Ministry.
In other business, council
discussed drainage outfalls,
dead-end signs for Sarnia St.,
grading roads as soon as the
snow -plow blades are removed,
and the ordering of calcium.
The meeting adjourned early
on account of adverse weather
conditions. The next regular
council meeting will be held
Monday evening, April 15, at
7:30 p.m. in the municipal
building.

discuss ideas
(by Dale Schwartzentruber)
Twelve girls were present
at our fifth meeting and answ-
ered two roll calls. One aid
which will improve storage in
my bedroom. The answers
were boxes in my drawers, shoe
racks and more hangers. Our
second roll call was; One health
habit I will follow for a good
complexion. Their answers
were more sleep, fresh air,
exercise, outdoor activity,
plenty of water and a good diet..
Our sewing projects are
started. Those doing sewing
kits do not have to send in
articles inside their kit. A
drawn picture telling the home
economist what we will put in
will do. Next meeting is a
little early to have a special
speaker.
Good value
When you buy a dozen large
eggs, you are buying about 72
grams of good quality protein.
Food specialists at the Ontario
Food Council say that eggs
are a good buy. Priced at 89
cents a dozen, eggs cost about
59 cents a pound or 16 cents a
service (2 large eggs).
Eggs are k protein food.
Protein is the chief building
and repair material for your
body. Two large eggs at lunch
will give you about 12 grams
of complete protein, the same
amount and kind of protein you
find in a normal serving of
treat, fish, or poultry.
Your system takes a little
longer to digest protein foods
than it does to digest carbohyd-
rate foods, such as bread. Add-
ing an egg to your breakfast
menu will eliminate the tempt-
ation to snack before lunch.
