4-1-1 CLUBS Ian'
Hensall I 4-H Club met at
the home of Mrs. William Fuss
Tuesday evening for their sec-
ond meeting. Fourteen member
answered the roll call "When
meeting a person for the first
time what do you notice about
them? The care of hands and
feet were discussed. All memb-
ers participated in the manicur-
ing. President of this club is
Betty Beer and secretary is
Susan Stretton. Leaders are Mrs,
William Fuss and Mrs. Ted Oud
The first meeting of the Hen-
sall II 4-H "Glamour Girls"
was held at the home of Mrs.
Peter Bisback with 11 members
in attendance. Plans for the
club were arranged and dues
and fines discussed and settled
on. "Important points of your
personality" was the topic with
discussion ranging from out-
ward appearances to inward
thoughts and ideas. Leaders of
this club are Mrs. Peter Bis -
back and Linda Mock.
The second meeting of the
Hensall II 4-1-1 Glamour Girls
was held at the home of Mrs.
Peter Bisback, on Tuesday
evening. The meeting was open
ed by the president with the
4-1-1 Pledge. Members answered
the roll call by saying what they
notice about a person for the
first time. For business we dis-
cussed title covers and voted on
a cover drawn by Barbara Mc-
Curdy.
UNITED CHURCH NOTES
Rev. Don Beck preached on
the sermon topic "Life is a
game, " for the Lent II service
Sunday morning in Hensall
United Church. The choir sang
the anthem "Come Spirit,
come" under the direction of
Mrs. Turkheim at the organ.
Sunday school sessions for
March 17 have been cancelled
but will resume again on March
24.
AMBER REBEKAHS
The regular meeting of
Amber Rebekah Lodge was held
Wednesday evening in the
Lodge rooms with N.G. Mrs.
TAKE PA
Aldeen Volland presiding and
being assisted by V.G. Mrs.
Margaret Consitt. Quite a num-
ber of officers were absent due
to sickness. An invitation was
accepted to attend Parkhill
Lodge on April 2 when the
officers of Hensall Lodge will
close the meeting. Two carload:
of members attended the meet-
ing at Victoria Lodge in London
when officers of Hensall Lodge
performed closing exercises.
A euchre is planned for March
20 in the Lodge rooms. The
annual district meeting will
be held in Clinton Lodge rooms
on April 10 at 2:30 p.m.
All P. N. G .'s are asked to at-
tend. Hensall Lodge is to supply
a number for entertainment.
UNIT IV HENSALL U.C.W.
Unit IV of Hensall United
Church Women met on Thurs-
day afternoon with Mrs. J.
McAllister presiding. Mrs.
E. Rowe gave the devotional
using as her theme "Light and
candle power." The study "A
white man comes back to black
Africa" was given by Mrs. J.
Flynn. Several members who
had attened the Presbyterial
in Mitchell gave highlights of
the meeting. The meeting clos-
ed with a duet by Mrs. C. Brit-
ton and Mrs. E. Luther. Mrs.
County Jail
declared
historic site
The former Huron County
jail in Goderich has been decl-
ared an historic site by the
Historic Sites and Monuments
Board of Canada.
The announcement was made
by the Huron County branch of
the Architectural Conservancy
of Ontario at a meeting last
week.
A historic plaque will be
placed on the jail site but
conservancy members did not
know when it would be erected.
The jail, built in 1841, is
one of the oldest public build-
ings in Western Ontario. In
1869, the last public hanging in
Canada took place there.

ment board said the commem-
oration did not give site any
legal protection against dest-
ruction.
Two proposals for use of the
jail have been filed and are
under study by a Goderich com-
mittee. The briefs are from the
conservancy and a senior cit-
izens' group.
