po,tE wATER REST HOME
The lovely balmy weather of
the weekend makes us wonder
if spring is just around the corn-
er, We have been hoping to
have a nice day in order that
the residents can enjoy a bus
ride, but the days we have
planned never turn out to be
-suitable. However, we'll hope
to make up for this in the weeks
ahead. Film night was Monday
evening and refreshments were
served following the entertain-
ment.
Attend meeting
Rev, Garbutt Smith, Presi-
dent of the local TBRD Assoc-
iation, Mrs. Frank Dodds, Mrs.
Edith Brothers, Mrs. Edith
Fisher, Mitchell and Mrs.
Beryl Davidson attended the
Semi -Annual meeting of the
Ontario TB and Respiratory Dis-
ease Association in Toronto.
Mr. Fergus Kelly, Christmas
Seal Director for Ontario for
the past 29 years was honored
on his retirement with a pres-
entation and standing ovation,
At the "Fergus Kelly Retire-
ment Luncheon, " Rev. Garbutt
Smith was a participant. It was
noted during addresses and com-
ments that the 1973 Christmas
Seal Campaign in Ontario
reached an all-time high.
Locally, (1972 Campaign)
last year we received the high-
est population support in the
province and with an increase
in returns there is every indic-
ation that the 1973 campaign
may again hit the top. We
believe this to be the result
of respiratory disease rehabil-
itative and educational prog-
rams carried out by the local
Association,

EVERYONE WELCOME
On Wednesday evening, the
children from the Church of
God, Grand Bend, presented
their monthly musical program.
Following the program the
grandchildren and daughter of
Mrs. Jenny Hotson served a
delicious birthday cake to hon-
our her on her up -coming
birthday.
On Wednesday afternoon
Messrs Ross McFalls, Cecil
Skinner, and Nelson Squires
visited the Home and brought
along their musical instruments
which included the violin,
guitar and mouth organ. Mrs.
Ross McFalls accompanied them
on the piano. The residents
enjoyed an afternoon of old
tyme music and look forward
to another visit from them in
the near future.
The sympathy of residents
and staff is extended to the
family of the late Mrs. Daisy
Butler.
Bingo was played on Thurs-
day evening and refreshments
served following the games.
We welcome Miss Susanne
Hartman of London to our
Horne. She is a former resid-

SIX WEEK COURSE
The 35 or 40 women who
work as homemakers for the
Horne Care Program have taken
a six week course at Conestoga
College, in Clinton and learn
basics about patient care, nut-
rition, psychology and child
care. Another course begins in
April.
"I always like to find out
what the family and patient
expect from a homemaker, "
Mrs. Cardno says. "Our home-
makers are supposed to provide
personal care for the patient,
not heavy housework." She
could do with a list of good
cleaning women who could be
paid privately by patients who
need help with housework, she
adds.
The Horne Care Program has
been in operation in Huron
County since November 1971.
Mrs. Cardno is the program's
first director. Originally the
office was in Seaforth, in the
Community Hospital.
Horne Care headquarters are
now in Clinton, in the former
Nurses' Residence across from
the Hospital there.
HEALTH UNIT
Home Care is a branch of the
Huron County Health Unit and
is under the direction of MOH
Frank Mills. Public Health
Nurses, in Exeter, Eingham,
Clinton, Seaforth and Goderich
work as liaison with Horne
Care, assessing patients in
their areas to see what services
are required,
Although money for the Home
Care program comes from the
province, Mrs. Cardno says that
every program is allowed
