U Houseplants need a little extra push at this time of year when they are just beginning growth for a new season, advise; Bob Fleming, Horticulturist with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food. More generous watering than in the dormant months of December and January is req- uired to sustain this first flush of growth, and the addition of a soluble fertilizer every two or three weeks will give future growth a good foundat- ion. Most houseplants do very well in a bright window. Avoid placing the plants too close to the window glass where temp- eratures on cold nights could injure the foliage.
