Front row left Dowson vice-president; Delbert Geiger, president; and Elgin Hendrick, secretary. The group no doubt spent making plans for the new facilities, which will be officially opened this Saturday afternoon. ge from the pr (by Delbert Geiger, president of Hensall District Co -Op) When I look back over the last six years, it is most grat- ifying to me to see the new levels we have reached in services, volume, and memb- ership. Such growth is indicat- ed by the increase in sales from $1, 600, 000. in 1968 to $5, 970, 000. in 1973. In 1968, your directors were confronted with the purchase of a gran elevator in Mensal'. This was accomplished with the help of member loans. We were also faced with centralizing our various depart- ments in Hensall. We bought more land adjac- ent to the elevator, and as a result, our fertilizer, petroleum warehouse, store and office facilities are now in one locat- ion, which I hope will give better and faster service to the customer. We also have service centres in Zurich and Brucefield for the convenience of the farmers. In 1973, a new warehouse, store and office were added, and are almost completed. I would like to invite our many friends to attend our special opening on March 9, 1974. BE IS T ES TO ISTRI on the opening of your FINE EW FACILITIES iN HENSALL e wish you success in the years ahead! UNITED OPERATIVES F ONTARIO Head Office - Mississauga group of men were are Cornelius Inthout, to right are Bill plenty of late evenings The challenges of 1974 and the years to follow are squarely before us and I know our farm- ers and members will take up this challenge, and provide rhe support they have given us in the past, in making Mensal], and District Co-op a business to be proud of. Out of profits of $165, 000, the directors of Hensall District Co-operative were happy to declare a 3 1/2% patronage div- ident on member business. My suggestion to you is "Let us make it a $10, 000, 000. a year business turnover by 1980." 0 Members of the Red Cross Women's Work Committee in branches all across Canada make new clothing and quilts for people in need all over the world. Last year more than 1800 cartons of infants and children's clothing, adults clothing and quilts were shipped to 32 developing coun- tries for free distribution and to League of Red Cross Societies warehouses for storage pending distribution in disaster. The ware- house boxes are frequently among the first assistance received by victims of flood, earthquake or other natural disaster.
