Zurich Atoms win Lucan tourney

The Zurich Atoms played
four games during the past week
including three games in the
Lucan Leprechaun Tournament.
The Atoms completed in the
tournament last Saturday and
Sunday, winning the "D"
Championship,
The locals first step to succes1
in the tournament was gained
with a 4-1 win over Belmont.
Jim and Robert Willert led
the Zurich attack, each scoring
once giving the locals a 2-0
lead at the end of the first
stanza.
There was only one goal
scored in the second period with
Kris Bedard scoring for the
locals. Bedard again scored
early in the third period.
ZURICH 9 - NORWICH 1
The Atoms again assured ther
selves of a return trip to the
tourney when they downed
Norwich Sunday morning by an
easy 9-1 victory.
Zurich's victory was easily
attributed to two top perform-
ers, Kris Bedard and Robert
Willert, each scoring four goals.
Robert and Jim Willert again
started the scoring action in the
first period, when they each
rallied for one goal. Kris Bed-
ard scored three of his for
goals in the second period,
his being the only goals in the
second session.
Robert Willert came on strong
in the third period scoring three
quick goals while the ninth
was scored by Kris Bedard.
Bobby Hay played an outstand-
ing game in the net allowing
Norwich only one goal.
ZURICH 4 - DORCHESTER 1
The Atoms clinched the
"D" Championship Sunday aft-
ernoon when they met Dorchest-
er in a close 4-1 battle.
There was no scoring in the
first period due to outstanding
performances from the Zurich
defence and goaltender.
Jim and Robert Willert started
the Zurich scoring in the sec-
ond period, as they made a
repeat performance three games
in a row of scoring the first
two Zurich goals.
Jim Willert scored his second
goal of the game in the third
while team -mate Kris Bedard
scored the final goal of the •
game. Dorchester's only goal
was scored early in the third
stanza.
There were three divisions
in tournament with the "B"
and "C" championships being
wonb y Willowdale and Forest.
Runners-up in the three divis-
ions were Exeter, Lambeth and
Dorchester, in that order.
ZURICH 4 - MITCHELL 4
The Zurich Atoms played to
a 4-4 draw with Mitchell last
Wednesday night in Zurich,
First period scorers for Zur-
ich were Robert Willert and
Kris Bedard. The only goal of
the second period was scored
by Heinbuch for Mitchell.
Fisher then scored the tieing
goal for Mitchell in the third

Willert regain the lead in
Zurich's favour. Heinbuch
again kept Mitchell in the
game when he managed to tie
the score forcing them into
one ten minute overtime per-
iod.
Willert and Heinbuch scored
for their teams with the Zurich
•goal being the first and also
appearing to be the winning
goal, until 1•Ieinbuck scored
his third of the game leaving
the match in a 4-4 draw,
MITCHELL 2 - ZURICH 1
In the second game of the
Zone 1 semi-finals on Monday
night, Mitchell came out on
the top end of a 2-1 score.
The third game in the series way
scheduled for last night.
Zurich took a 1-0 lead in the
first period when Robert Will-
ert banged in a pass from David
Smith, Neither team managed
to score in the second session.
Third period goals by Ilein-
buck and Ferguson gave them
their 2-1 victory.

Zurich Peewees
lose WOAA series
The Zurich Pee Wees were
eliminated from WOAA play-
off action Wednesday night
when they were defeated 6-1
by a strong crew from Paisley.
George Campbell led his
team to victory with three
goals while Bill Rolston scored
twice. The sixth Paisley goal
wa s scored by Hettrick.
Zurich's lone goal was scored
by Steven Grainger. Zurich
received five penalties while
the visiting Paisley team drew

Flyers down
one game
After winning the first game
of their best -of -seven playoff
series with Centralia College
last week, the Zurich Flyers
lost the next two contests and
are now trailing the series two
games to one. The fourth game
of the series is scheduled for
the Zurich Arena on Sunday
afternoon, at 2 p.m.
Last Thursday night at Huron
Park the Flyers took a 3-2 lead
in the first period, only to have
the College boys come back
and tie the score at 5-5 by the
end of the second. In the third
period the locals fell one goal
short of tieing the game, and
absorbed a 7-6 defeat.
Ron Desjardine scored twice
for the local crew in the first
period of Thursday night's
game., and Paul Corriveau
blinked the red light once.
In the second period Ron
Rader and Rich Schilbe both
found the range for Zurich,
and Bob Farquhar accounted for
the sixth goal in opening sec-
onds of the third period,
A total of 17 penalties were
called in the game, with ten of
them going to the locals and
seven to the Centralia squad.
On Monday night back at
Huron Park, the Flyers fared
worse than in the second game
of the series as they took a 10-
6 lacing from the College Boys.
Centralia jumped into an
early 7-3 lead in the first per-
iod., and then increased it 10-
4 by the end of the second.
Only lathe third session, when
they held the College off the
scoresheet and scored twice
themselves, did the Fl yers re-
semble the team that finished
up in second place in the South
Huron Hockey League.
Pat Bedard scored twice in
the first period for the locals,
with Ron Desjardine adding the
third marker. Ron Corriveau
managed to bank in the only
Zurich goal of the second per-
iod, and then Pat Bedard, with
his third big goal of the game,
and Ron Desjardine, with his
second, managed to find the
range for the Flyers in the third.
Only six minor penalties
were handed out, with each
team picking up three.
Higher rate for
land severance

People applying for land
severances in Huron County
after June 1 this year will pay
more. In the past, land sever-
ances have cost the applicant
$40; now it will cost $50.
This charge is made upon
application and has no bearing
on whether or not the severance
is granted.
Revenue for the year was
estimated at $14, 000 based on
$40 each for 350 applications.
The county share is estimated at
$25, 000,
