The Molson's Bank have
again established their branch
in Zurich, it being on Vict-
oria Street,
About midnight on Friday
the whole village of Zurich
was called out to help whatever
they could in the bad fire which
broke out in the basement of
the T, L. Wurm store. Within
an hour the complete building
was a mass of flames, and
complete destruction was inevit.
able.
The store of J. Gascho & Son
in Zurich has a special on fresh
ground coffee, at only 25 cents
per pound.
D,A. Cantelon is having
extensive alterations made to
the interior of his home, at
Hensall.
At the regular meeting of the
Hay Township council, Fred
Ducharme was appointed as
school attendance officer for
the west part of Hay, in place
of Albert Kalbfleisch, who
resigned.
35 Years Ago
Fire of unknown origin last
Friday night completely destroy-
ed the Twitchell garage in
Hensall, and damaged the adj-
oining buildings. The fire was
first noticed by Harold Stade,
of Zurich, who was on his way
home from playing hockey in
Seaforth. He drove up and
down the main street of Hensall
blowing his car horn, to arouse
the people and thereby turn in
the alarm.
A few of the local fishermen
along the lake at St. Joseph
have tried the ice, and the
results are not very favourable
as yet.
Mr. Wilfred Klopp, of Zur-
ich, left for London this week
where he will operate for a
few weeks the hardware store
belonging to his brother, Har-
old, who will spend some time
in Florida.
The general store of Restem-
ayer and Miller in Dashwood
was broken into and robbed
over the weekend.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lamont
have moved into the new home
they built for themselves in
the north section of the village
of Zurich.

The Hensall-Zurich Combine:
took the semi-final series in the
OHA Junior D grouping with
four straight victories over the
Glencoe Pontiacs, Last Wednes-
day night in Hensall they open-
ed the series with a 6-4 win,
then the following night they
went to Glencoe and came up
with a thrilling 7-5 overtime
victory.
At an enrollment ceremony
held at the Hensall United.
Church Tuesday, Susan Broadl-
ey was enrolled as a Guide in
the First Hensall Girl Guides
Association. Jane Pyette was
invested as a patrol leader.
Badges and service stars were
awarded by Captain Mrs. Jim
Hyde.
Mr. and Mrs. James Hayter
and Mr. and Mrs, Glen Webb
attended the Good Roads Conv-
ention at the Royal York Hotel
in Toronto last week.
Mr. Bob Merner has returned
home after being a patient in
Victoria Hospital, London.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Dunn Jr.,
were pleasantly surprised on Sat•
urday night at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Grainger,
the occasion being their silver
anniversary.
