The Explorers of Carmel
Presbyterian Church met Sun-
day for their fourth space probe.
Mrs. Al Hoggarth welcomed
the young astronauts to the corn
mand module. Symbols were
discussed and the fish which is
the symbol of the early Christ-
ians was made by each member
and worn for the remainder of
the meeting.
"The Secret Pillars, " was
read by Darlene Faber, Lisa
Stretton, Greg and Paul Hogg-
arth. The members then told of
their own secret possessions.
Prayer of Thanksgiving for
these and other blessings was
participated in by all present.
A treasure hunt for hidden
candies and a game of follow
the leader was enjoyed. Murray
Taylor tool< up the collection.
Mrs. Hoggarth then read a
story to give the Explorers some
idea where the money is sent
to help the needy. A sing -song
accompanied by the tape rec-
order brought the meeting to a
close.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Dill-
ing and family of Sarnia visited
Saturday with Mr. and Mrs.
Wilbert Dilling.
Present plaques to 19 firemen for long service
NINETEEN MEN who have served 15 years or more as remembers of the Hensall Volunteer Fire Department were honoured at a special
service Sunday morning in the Hensall United Church. Some of the 19 have passed on and the balance have retired from the depart-
ment. Back row left to right are Rev. Don Beck, who delivered an inspiring message to the group, Ed Fink, Tom. Lavender, John
Sangster, Jim Sangster, Wilmer Ferguson, Don Dixon, assistant chief, and Harold Knight, village councillor in charge of the fire
department. Front row left to right, Joe Flynn, Clarence Volland, Dave Sangster, chief, Mrs. Alma Hess, who accepted the plaque
on behalf of her husband, the late George Hess, and Howard Smale. Some of the group were not able to be present for the occasion.
