Present plaques t
Rev Don Beck preached on
the sermon topic "On being
with it, " for the service of
worship in Hensall United
Church Sunday morning. The
choir sang the anthem "Rise up
O Men of God, " under the
direction of Mrs. Turkheim at
the organ.
The Hensall Council and
Fire Department were the spec-
ial guests for the day. Nineteen
former members of the Fire
Department were honoured with
long service plaques for ten
years or more service to the
community. Those being hon-
ored and the years served are
as follows. 22 years, George R.
Hess, posthumous; 22 years,
R. Orville Twitchell, posthum-
ous; 22 years, Francis W.
Harburn, posthumous; 18 years,
Byron Kyle, posthumous; 11
years, Edward W. Fink; 15
years, Joseph W. Flynn; 23 -
years, Walker C.H. Carlile;
15 years, William G. Smale;
14 years, Keith M. Buchanan,
16 years, Thomas G. Lavender;

have returned to the home of
their daughter, Mrs. Ross Faber,
to recuperate. We wish them a
speedy recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex McGregor
and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hugill,
Clinton, who have been holi-
daying in Florida, have return-
ed home.

East Women's Institute, Jim
Rowat, of the Ausable-Bayfield
Conservation Authority, discuss-
ed Conservation Authority and
what it is. He showed slides of
the Ausable-Bayfield Conserv-
ation Authority. He stated that
there are 39 Conservation Au-
thorities in Ontario. The prog-
rams include flood control,
water conservation, erosion
control, reforestation, develop-
ment of recreational areas,
fish and wildlife, and also Cam'
Sylvan Conservation School.

Members answered the roll
by "Naming a favourite use of
Cheese." Mrs. 11. Caldwell
commented on the motto "The
Eason a dollar doesn't do as
much as it once did, is that
people don't either." She stated
that people are not ready to do
an honest day's work, and that
strikes are ruining the economy
of the country.
She also read highlights from
Judy LaMarsh's off-the-cuff
talk ,given at the Canadian
Club of London banquet.
Members will visit Bluewater
Rest Home on March 12, and
Huronview on March 27. A don-
ation was made to the South
Huron Association for the Ment-
ally Retarded, and also to the
ACWW Save the Sight Fund.
