The Zurich Flyers came up
with two big victories on Mon-
day and Tuesday night downing
Huron Park 5-3 and Centralia
College 8-2 Tuesday in the
local arena.
In one of the best -played
games of the season Monday
night at Huron Park, the locals
took a 2-1 lead in the first per-
iod and increased it to 4-1 by
the end of the second. By the
midway mark of the third sess-
ion Huron Park carne back
strong and closed the gap to
4-3, before Ron Desjardine
banged in an insurance marker
with two minutes left to play.
Rick Grenier and Pat Bedard
each scored once in the first
period, with Jim Pfaff being the
marksmen for the Huron Park
squad. Kevin McKinnon and
Paul Corriveau both found the
range for the Flyers in the sec-
ond, and in the final frame
George Leger scored twice for
Huron Park before Desjardine
carne through with the big goal
for Zurich.
Only two minor penalties were
called in the game with each
team drawing ane of them.
On Tuesday night two big
goals by Kevin McKinnon and
one each by Randy Decker and
Rich Schilbe gave the Zurich
club a commanding 4-0 lead by
the time the first period was
ended.
Centralia College came back
with two markers off the sticks'
of Roger Harrop and Charles
Bauman midway through the
second, but their rally ended
with that effort and before the
period ended Paul and Ron
Corriveau had both found the
range for the local crew.
Richard Fisher and Richard
Schilbe, with ane goal each,
rounded out the scoring for
Zurich in the third period, to
give them their 8-2 verdict.
Seven minor penalties were
handed out with the local squad
taking five of there;

Intermediate hockey League
action last Thursday night when
they carne out on the short end
of a 7-5 score with the Huron
Park squad. The game was
played in the Huron Park Arena.
Even though they led 5-4
midway through the third per-
iod, the locals fell behind in
the last nine minutes of the
game, allowing the home crew
to score three quick unanswer-
ed goals.
Iluron Park jumped into a
3-2 lead by the end of the
first period on goals by G.
Leger, R. Walker and Rick Fun-
ston. Marksmen for the Flyers
in the first session were Ron
Desjardine and Paul Corriveau.
A Parsons scored the only
goal of the second period, for
Huron Park, at the 17.11 mark,
giving the home team a 4-2
lead.
Three quick goals by Zurich
in the third period, in less than
three minutes, gave then a
temporary 5-4 lead, but at the
10.29 mark the Huron Park
crew carne fighting right back
to tie the score with L. Reid
triggering the equalizer. At the
13.41 mark J. Ralph scored the.
winning goal for Huron Park,
and then with less than a minute
left in the game Parsons scored
his second for the insurance
marker.
Only 12 minor penalties were
handed out in the game, with
seven of then going to Huron
Park and five to the Flyers.
The next action for the local
squad will be on Sunday after-
noon at 2 p. m. , with the
league -leading Shipka Bears
supplying the opposition. Zur-
ich won the last game between
the two teams, which almost
ended in a bif free-for-all,
so fans can expect plenty of
action when these two arch -
rivals meet.
