.Zurich Peewees eliminate Blyth

ZURICH 4: BLYTH 2
The Zurich Pee Wees recent-
ly clinched a best two out of
three series against Blyth while
advanced for a chance at the
Western Ontario Championship.
They downed Blyth two games
straight by a score of 4-2 both
games.
The first game was played
February I , with Zurich tak-
ing their close 4-2 victory.
Zurich scored three of their
four goals in the first period.
Len VanWonderen started the
scoring assisted by Kerry Bed-
ard. Grant Love then rallied
for the second goal, with the
assistance of Ken Oesch and
Bob Mommersteeg. Kerry Bed-
ard ended the first period scor-
ing on assist from Barry Over-
holt.
Blyth scored the only goal
in the second period leaving
Zurich witli a three to one lead
at the end of the second period.

Hendrick, Kimberlee Gaiser;
Grade III, Harmony, first class
honors, Sue Davis.
Both teams picked up one
goal during the third period with
Zurich's goal going to Steven
Grainger assisted by Kerry Bed-
ard and Ken Oesch while Brian
McClinchey scored for Blyth.
During the game Zurich rec-
eived 7 penalties while Blyth
picked up three.
ZURICH 4 - BLYTH 2
The Pee Wees had a closer
battle on their hands last Mon-
day night when Blyth managed
to take a 2-1 lead and then
hold on to it until there was
only ten minutes left in the
game.
Steven Grainger started the
Zurich scoring early in the first
period on an unassisted goal.
Blyth then carie on strong
with a burst of speed early in
the second period. Stephen
Siertsema scored the tieing
goal and then cane back to
score Blyth's go-ahead goal.
It was not until midway
through the third period when
Zurich managed to tie the
game on a goal from Grant
Love assisted by Ken Oesch.
Oesch then scored the winning
goal with two and a half min-
utes remaining in the game.
Barry Overholt then clinched
the game when he scored on an
empty net while Blyth attempt-
ed to tie the game.
Each team received three
minor penalties during the
game.
GODERICH 3 - ZURICII 1
The Pee Wees played an
exhibition game against God -

powerful Goderich crew.
Goderich goals were scored
by Ronald MacDonald, Roger
Lewis and Jim Costello. Zur-
ich's only goal was scored by
Grant Love and assisted by
Steven Grainger.
Zurich received three penal-
ties while Goderich took two.
Atoms win
The Zurich Atoms played an
exhibition game against Lucan
on January 30, coming up with
an easy 5-1 victory.
Zurich started their attack
in the first period with three
goals. Scorers were Robert
Willert, with two, while Brian
Horner scored once. Jim Will-
ert drew an assist on Robert
Willert's first goal while David
Erb assisted Brian Horner's
goal.
Lucan's lane goal was scored
in the second period by Randy
Simons. Zurich's remaining
two goals were also scored in
the second period. Robert Wil-
lett scored his third goal of the
game with the assistance of
Kevin Ok e. John McAllister
set up Jini Willert for the fifth
Zurich goal.
There were no goals scored
during the third period leaving
Zurich with a 5-1 victory.
