Zurich Citizens News, 1974-02-07, Page 10PAGE 10 ZURICH CITIZENS NEWS THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 1974 Golden Glimpses February, the month of hearts and flowers has had a good start. By the time of our next edition Valentine's Day will have come and gone. As I mentioned previously, we have a nicely decorated valentine's box in the Foyer of the Home and we invite anyone to place their valentines in it for any of the residents. The box will be opened and the contents distrib- uted at the Valentine Party to be sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary. Almost every day of February has been bright and sunny and so from all reports the ground hog has made his debut. Some of our staff are fortunate enough to be in Florida and others have returned. Mr. and Mrs. Risi are presently vacation- ing in Switzerland. Monday evening was film night and during Mr. Risi's absence Mr. and Mrs. Neil Gingerich are taking over the showing of the films and helping to serve refreshments. On Wednesday evening, the children from the Church of God, Grand Bend, entertained the residents to a musical prog- ram. We welcome Mr. Wellington Riehl to the Home. He was a former St. Marys resident. On Thursday afternoon Mr. Douglas Lewis of Ailsa Craig dropped in for a visit and entertained the residents to organ music and accompanied them in a sing- song. Bingo was changed to Friday TODAY CHILD BY HELEN ALLEN In good health, Kenny, 11 years, has dark eyes, brown hair and fair skin. He wears glasses for astigmatism. Though confident in social relationships, Kenny needs reassurance and encouragement regarding his academic ability. He is in junior opportunity class and will continue to need special education. He needs help to realize that the im- portant thing is not what class you are in, but that you do your best at whatever you are trying to do. Kenny is an outdoor type, fond of camping and playing out- side. Since he is especially interested in gardening and in all animals, he would like to live on a farm. Keen on sports, Kenny plays hockey, football and baseball. He is a Scout and attends Sunday School every week. Though not a great reader he enjoys listening to stories. Kenny's adopting family should have brothers and sisters for him, an atmosphere full or warmth and affection and a father who likes sharing activities with his children. To inquire about adopting Kenny, please write to Today's Child. Ministry of Community and Social Services, Box 888, Station K, Toronto M4P 2H2. For general adoption information, please contact your local Children's Aid Society. HOPES FOR A FARM HOME afternoon instead of the evening,, under the supervision of Mrs. Mary Ellen Gingerich, Craft Room Supervisor. The Sunday evening chapel service was conducted by Rev. Warren, of Crediton United Church. Mrs. Leila Finkbeiner presided at the organ and acc- ompanied the trio who sang Mrs. Alvin Finkbeiner, Mrs. Hey and Miss Swartz. Two boys were loafing along the road trying to decide what to do. One said to the other: "I'll flip this coin, Heads we go to the movies, and tails we go bike riding, And if it lands on its side, we go home and study."
