Mr. and Mrs. Brian Collins,
Kitchener, and Charles Mickle,
Hamilton, spent the weekend
with their mother, Mrs. Laird
Mickle.
Dr. and Mrs. Robert Mickle
visited Sunday with the former's
mother, Mrs. Laird Mickle.
Mr. and Mrs. Murray Mc -
Ewan, London, visited Monday
with Mrs. Grace McEwan.
EUCHRE
A successful euchre was held
in the L,O.O.F Lodge rooms on
Wednesday evening. Sponsored
by the C. P, and T committee,
there were eight ables in play,
Winners were, ladies high, Mrs.
Ross Richardson, ladies low, Mrs.
Robert McAllister; men's high,
Howard Lemmon, men's low,
Glen Bell; most lone hands,
Ross Richardson. A draw for a
box of groceries was won by
Ross Richardson and a bag of
oranges draw was won by Mrs.
Mary Connelly, of Kippen.
UNITED CHURCH NOTES
Rev. Don Beck preached on
the sermon topic "The Gospel-
Bad News" for the service of
worship Sunday morning in
Hensall United Church..The
choir under the direction of Mrs,
Turkheim sang the anthem
"Bless the Lord, 0 My Soul."
Flowers were placed in the
church in memory of Mrs.
Stanley (Gladys) Mitchell and
Hilton Truemner.
AMBER REBEKAHS
Noble Grand Mrs. Aldeen
Volland presided at the regular
meeting of Amber Rebekah
Lodge and was assisted by Vice
Grand Mrs. Margaret Consitt.
The Charter was draped in'
memory of Kathleen Campbell
and Bertha Sutton, past presid-
ents of the Rebekah Assembly
of Ontario.
Mrs. Consitt reported for the
visiting committee and the
meeting in Clinton on January
9, informing that the speak -
off for the Youth Pilgrimage
will be held February 27.
Mrs. Volland reported for the
C.p. and T. committee. The
committee for the 25th anniv-
ersary of the lodge announced
a banquet and program would be
held at the Pineridge Chalet,
February 10.
Following the meeting the
members enjoyed a sing song
and revealed their secret pals
by presenting them with gifts.
A social hour concluded the
evening.
Obituaries
MRS. E.M. BUCHANAN
At Huronview, Clinton, on
February 2, Ellen Margaret
Buchanan (Zuefle), formerly of
St. Thomas acrd Hensall passed
away in her 82nd year.
She is survived by several
neices and nephews.
The late Mr. Buchanan rested
at the Bonthron Funeral Chapel
in Hensall until February 5,
when a private funeral service
was held with Rev. Don Beck
officiating. Interment was in
Baird's Cemetery, Brucefield,
Pallbearers were Bill Bell, Ron
Bell, Bob Bell and Max Zuefle
MRS. J.M, SPEIR
Mrs. Jessie Margaret Speir
(former Collins) of R, R.1,
Varna, passed away at Varna
on Sunday, February 3, 1974
in her 76th year.
She is survived by one son,
Robert, of R, R,1, Varna, one
brother, Earl Collins, of Clin-
ton, and one sister, Mrs.
Charles Pilgram of Varna.
There are four grandchildren
and three great grandchildren
also survive.
The late Mrs. Speir rested at
the Bonthron Funeral Chapel
in Hensall until Wednesday,
when funeral service was held
at 2 p.m. Interment was in
Baird's Cemetery, Brucefield.
MRS. ELGIN ROWCLIFFE
Mrs. Elgin Rowcliffe, the
former Ada Belle Case, of
R,R,1, Hensall passed away
January 27, 1974 at South Huron
Hospital, Exeter.
Surviving are her husband,
Elgin, three sons, William B.
Robert D., and Ronald E. and
one daughter, Margaret (Peggy)
Craven. Also surviving is one
sister, Mrs. Gretta Prout,
and grandchildren.
The late Mrs. Rowcliffe rest-
ed at the Hopper-Ilockey funer-
al home, in Exeter, where
service was held January 29.
Interment was in Exeter Cemet-
ery.
Police
Only two accidents were
reported this week, with light
damage and no injuries.
On Sunday at 2:14 a,m. cars
driven by Robert Watson, Huron
Park, and William Finlay,
Dashwood, collided on
Huron County Road 2. Damage
was estimated at $225. by const
able Bill McIntyre.
On Friday at 2:15 a.m. cars
driven by Charles Scheydyer-
berg, Stratford, and John Temp.
leman, Staffa collided on
Highway 83 at the junction of
County Road 11. Damage was
set at $85. by constable
Dale Lamont.
On January 28, Gingerich's
Sales and Service, Zurich,
was broken into and a clock
radio, eight track tape player
and portable radio were stolen.
Constable Don Mason is invest-
igating.
On Wednesday the Co -Op in
Hensall was entered by unknown
persons and considerable dam-
age was caused, Money was
taken from the lunch room
and a quantity of pop stolen.
Constable Don Mason is the
investigating officer.
