Posting two big victories over
the Arkona Rockets during the
past week helped the Zurich
Flyers assure themselves of sec-
ond place in the South Huron
Hockey League standing. On
Thursday night in Thedford, the
Flyers had little trouble in reg-
istering an easy 7-4 score over
the home -team, and then back
in Zurich on Sunday afternoon
they thumped them 10-6.
Paul Corriveau led the lurid:
attack on Thursday night with
three big goals, while Ron Desj-
ardine added two to the total.

Pat Bedard and Ron Corriveau
both scored once.
The locals jumped into a
quick 4-0 lead in the first per-
iod, and then saw this lead
dwindle to 4-2 early in the sec-
ond. They outscored the Rock-
ets 3-1 in the third session to
give them their margin of vict-
ory,
All the penalties called in
the game were against the
Flyers. They picked up four
minors and two ten-minute mis-
conducts.

The Zurich Atoms won the
two games during the past week
edging Bayfield 5-4 and down-
ing Exeter 5-0.
Their first game was played
last Wednesday night in Zurich
when they took a close 5-4
victory over Bayfield.
Robert Willert was the lone
scorer in the first period giving
Zurich a 1-0 lead at the end of
the first. Zurich came on strong
in the second period with three
quick goals. Scorers were Bobby
Hay, Gordon Love and Robert
Willert.
Bayfield then came back to
score two goals, leaving Zurich
in a 4-2 lead at the end of the
second period. Bayfield scorers
were Mark Telford and Dale
Stephenson.
Bayfield again scored two
more goals in the third period
tieing the game at four goals
apiece. Marksmen for Bayfield
were Mark Telford and John
Merrier. Robert Willert then scor-
ed the winning goal for Zurich
on an unassisted play.
ZURICH 5 - EXETER 0
The Zurich Atoms played in
the Exeter Minor Hockey Day
last Saturday and downed the
Exeter "B" team by a score of
5-0.
Zurich scored all but one of
their five goals in the first
period leaving the fifth to be
scored in the third period.
Zurich scorers were Robert Wil-
lert with three and Jim Willert
scoring once.
Robert Willert scored the only
goal in the third period giving
him a total of four goals during
the game.

The two teams split a pair
of first -period goals, but then
in the second session the locals
scored five goals to two for
Arkona. In the third period
Zurich picked up four more
goals, while holding the visitors
to three.
Of the 12 minor penalties
handed out in the game, each
team was assessed six.
Tonight, Thursday, the locals
travel to Huron Park for a game
with that team, and then on
Sunday afternoon in the local
arena the big all-star games
takes place. The South Hurnn
Hockey League All -Stars will
play against a team from Can-
adian Forces Base, London.
Game time is 2 p.m.
