The Atoms lost to Seaforth on January 15 in Seaforth by a close score of 3-1. Seaforth led the scoring in the first period on a goal from Mike McIver. They again came back in the second period to score two goals leaving them in a three to nothing lead. Seaforth's marksmen were John Malone and Dan McLaughlin. Zurich's lone scorer was Jim Willett, There were rio goals scored in the third period leaving Seaforth with a 3-1 victory over Zurich. GODERICH vs ZURICH On January 16 Zurich gave up a tough battle to a strong God- erich team losing 6-3. Zurich took a 2 -0 lead in the first period on goals from Jim and Robert Willett. Goderich then came on strong in the second period scoring three quick goals, Goderich scorers were Dave Graham, Doug Eastwood and Rick Graham. Robert Willert tied the game in the third period, although the Goderich squad scored three more quick goals leaving them with a 6-3 victory. Goderich scorers were Kevin Rowe, Jim Kelly and Wayne Boyce. On January 19, the Zurich Atoms played in the Seaforth Optimist Tournament losing the first game to Brussels by a score of 8-2. Zurich managed to keep up to Brussels during the first two periods leaving the second period in a 2-2 tie. Zurich's two goals were scored by Robert Willert while McCutcheon scor- ed twice for Brussels. Brussels controlled the scoring in the third period scoring six goals. Zurich now moved down to the "B" series where they met Wingham coming up with a6-3 win. Each team scored once during the first ppiod leaving the first stanza in 1-1 tie. Robert Will- ett scored for Zurich while Holmes scored for Wingham. Zurich controlled the action in the second period scoring three goals to Wingham's one. Jim and Robert Willert and Pat Cyr each scored once for the locals while Goodall scored for Wingham. Robert Willert scored twice for Zurich in the third period giving them a 6-3 victory over Wingham. Holmes was the lone scorer for Wingham la the third period. Robert Willett received a hockey stick for being Zurich's Star Player. The local team now advance to the "B" Championship game where they met Listowel. Zurich took a close 3-2 loss against the strong Listowel crew. I Listowel controlled the scoring in the game scoring one goal each period. Marksmen for Listowel were Horn scoring twice and Dahl scoring once. Zurich came on strong in the third per- iod with three minutes left to play in the game. Jim and Rober: Willert each scored once although they were unable to •come up with the third goal PAGE 15 Robert Willett won the Most Valuable Player Trophy for his outstanding performance during the tournament.
