JOSEPH GELINAS
A life-long resident of this
area; Joseph Gelinas passed
away in South Huron Hospital,
Exeter, on Saturday, January
19, in his 94th year. He was
born in Hay Township on March
10, 1880, a son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph Gelinas.
For many years Mr. Gelinas
farmed in Hay Township on the
Goshen Line, before retiring to
Zurich. His wife, the former
Marie Denomme, passed away
some years ago.
Surviving are four sons, Harv-
ey, of London; Claude, of Zur-
ich; Mozart, of Zurich; and
Arthur, of London; five daughterd
Mrs. Dennis (Meryl) Corriveau,
Stratford; Mrs. Clarence (Phoebe
Tiede, London; Mrs. August
(Grace) Tiede, Toronto; Mrs.
Clement (Joan) McCann, Dash-
wood; Mrs. Earl (Yvonne) Diet-
rich, Centralia; one sister, Miss
Mary Gelinas, London. There
are also 60 grandchildren and
68 great grandchildren.
The body rested at the West-
lake Funeral Horne, Zurich,
until Tuesday morning, when
funeral mass was held at St.
Boniface Roman Catholic Church
Zurich, at 10:30 a.m. Temp-
orary entombment was made
with burial in St. Peter's Roman
Catholic Cemetery, St. Joseph.
Rev. Father A. Durand officiat-
ed.
Pallbearers were Harvey
Corriveau, Michael Gelinas,
Bill Gelinas, Len Dietrich,
Donald McCann and Mozart
Gelinas, Jr.
MRS. EDGAR WUERTH
A resident of this area for
many years, Mrs. Edgar Wuerth
passed away at Victoria Hospital,
London, on Saturday, January
19, in her 76th year. She was
the former Ada Brown.
Mr. Wuerth pre -deceased his
wife several years ago.
Surviving is one brother,
Garfield Brown of Waterloo, and
several nieces and nephews.
The body rested at the T.
Harry Hoffman Funeral Home,
Dashwood, where the service
took place on Tuesday, Janu-
ary 22, at 2 p.m. Interment
was made in the Crediton Cem-
etery. Rev. Bruce Guy officiat-
ed.
MRS, STANLEY MITCHELL
Mrs. Stanley Mitchell, of
Exeter, passed away at Victoria
Hospital, London, on Thursday,
January 17 in her 73rd year. She
was the former Gladys Broadfoot..
Surviving besides her husband
is one daughter, Mrs. Elgin (Pat)
Hendrick, Bluewater Highway,
and two grandchildren, Peter •
and Kim.
The body rested at the T.
Harry Hoffman Funeral Horne,
Dashwood, until Monday noon,
then at the Bonthron Funeral
Chapel, Hensall, where the
service was held at 2 p.m.
Temporary entombment was
made in the Hensall Union
Mausoleum, with burial later
in McTaggart's Cemetery. Rev.
Donald Beck officiated.
MERVYN R. WEBB
A former resident of Dashwood.
and Clinton, Mervyn R. Webb
passed away suddenly at Riviera
Beach, Florida, on Thursday,
January 17, in his 42nd year.
He has been a resident of Lond-
on for the past number of years.
Surviving is his wife, the
former Labelle Hill; three daugh•
ters, Darlene, Sally and Joy,
all at home; one son. Tommy,
of Palmerston; and his mother,
Mrs. Olive Webb, of Grand
Bend. His father pre -deceased
him some years ago.
The body rested at the T.
Harry Hoffman Funeral Home,
Dashwood, where a private
family service was held Sunday
afternoon at 3 p.m., with a
public service following in Cal-
vary United Church, Dashwood
at 3:30 p.m. W.R. Johnstone
officiated.
Interment was made in the
Grand Bend Cemetery.

Canada advises consumers to be
alert to energy-saving methods
in the kitchen. When cooking
vegetables, use a minimum of
water and cook only until tender
to improve nutrition and dec-
rease electrical consumption.
Ensure that saucepan lids fit
tightly. Heat water on "high"
till boiling point then reduce
to "low" or "simmer. "

Ivan Carter, custodian of
Seaforth District High School,
will be placed on the permanent
staff as of February 5.
The resignation of Orville
Welsh, custodian of F.E. Madill
Secondary, Wingham, was rec-
eived due to his retirement at
the age of 65.
The Board will sign a contract
with the Turnbull Elevator Div-
ision for the maintenance and
inspection of the F.E. Madill
Secondary School elevator at a
monthly fee of $28.
The Board will re -tender the
weekend transportation of five
students to and from their homes
and the Regional Centre of
Hearing Handicapped in London
due to the sizable increase req-
uested by Brooke Trailways in
Owen Sound.
The Board set due dates for
education tax installments --
50 per cent on June 30 and
remaining 50 per cent on Dec-
ember 15 for 1974.
The Teacher Salary Negotiat-
ions will be conducted this year
as they were last year with Mr.
Hill and four trustees chosen
by him.
TRAILER SAFETY
When pulling a trailer on
slippery pavement, be sure to
have chains on the trailer. The
Ontario Safety League says that
this will help prevent sideslips.
