Golden Glimpses ... .
Now that we are nearing the
middle of December and Christ-
mas is fast approaching, more
and more homes are beginning to
take on the atmosphere of the
holiday season and the Christ-
mas Spirit seems to be more ev-
ident in the people surrounding
us. On Monday afternoon a
number of our residents were
invited to the home of Mrs. A. S
Morton, Bayfield, where they
were graciously entertained and
served afternoon tea. Our resid-
ents enjoy these outings im-
mensely and we are indebted to
all such interested people.
Monday evening the residents
enjoyed films followed by ref-
reshments.
On Wednesday evening during
the supper hour, the junior and
senior Explorer Groups from Ex-
eter, accompanied by their lea-
ders, and Rev. Glenn Wright
and Rev. Snell. The girls
brought the dessert for the even-
ing meal which consisted of all
the delicious goodies that go
along with the holiday season,
and I noted by the refilling of
plates that they were indeed
being enjoyed. Following the
meal, the group sang several
musical selections.
The annual Christmas party
for the residents was held on
Thursday evening. Although the
weather was not the most pleas-
ant, we were pleased to have so
many interested people out to
enjoy the program. We wish to
thank Mrs. Masse, of Dashwood
who played the piano and acc-
ompanied Mr. James Murray on
the violin and Clare Masse who
played the guitar. The old tyme
music is always enjoyed by our
residents.
We also wish to thank our
other group of entertaines, Mrs.
John Henderson and her four
daughters, Donna, Darlene,

MEDITATION -
It was not by works that I had
done.
That I obtained this peace.
It was all thro' faith in God,
the Son,
I'm a sinner saved by Grace.
EVERYONE WELCOME
Debbie, and Diane, of Seaforth.

with a pack of gifts which he
distributed to the residents, We
also wish to thank Jerome Swee-

GARDEN PLANTS
If you want to give a Christ -
Inas present that will last,
consider a gift of garden plants.
Trees, shrubs, and roses will
last for many years, points out
Burke McNeill, horticultural
specialist, Ontario Ministry of
Agriculture and Food.
Gardeners will appreciate the
thought behind the gift of a rose
bush, shrub, or shade tree for
their garden. New homeowners,
too, will be pleased to receive
an addition for their garden.
Many new, and sometimes rare
plants, are available at garden
centers.
Most nurseries and garden
centers provide gift certificates.
These can be purchased for
specific plants to be delivered
just before the planting season.

Peanut Butter
No matter what sandwich
choices are offered, most child-
ren usually reply ---"peanut
butter, please." Making peanut
butter sandwiches on a daily
basis can become pretty uninspir
ing. Maybe it would help to
know that peanut butter is good
for your child. Peanut butter is
an economical source of protein,
say food specialists at the Ont-
ario Food Council, Ministry of
Agriculture and Food.
The "Guide to Good Eating
Every Day," prepared by the
University of Toronto's Depart-
ment of Nutrition, classifies
food into four basic groups:
milk and milk products; fruit,
and vegetables; meat and alter-
nates; cereals, bread, and pastas
Examples of one serving from
the meat and alternates group
are; four tablespoons of peanut
butter; 3 to 4 ounces of meat,
fish, or poultry; 2 eggs or 1 cup
of baked beans. For children
under 10 years (and persons over
60 years), 1 1/2 servings from
this group will supply their daily
protein needs. Older children
and adults require 2 servings a
day.
