HomeMy WebLinkAboutZurich Citizens News, 1973-12-13, Page 12PAGE 12 ZURICH CITIZENS NEWS THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13, 1973 FISHING SEASON STILL OPEN AT BAYFIELD Tuckersmith hydrants leak water At the Tuckersmith council meeting Tuesday, Vince Fowlie of Vanastra informed his fellow council members that the leak in the Vanastra water system was found to be in the fire hyd- rants. "Every hydrant was leaking, " he said. Excessive water useage at Vanastra had been a problem since council took over the system from the owner, Vanast- ra Developments. Fowlie reported that he under- stands seven of the hydrants cannot be serviced and must be replaced because of valve prob- lems. During June, 1973, the Hon. Leo Bernier announced a crack- down on law -breakers and rowd- ies in Ontario Provincial Parks. Evidence of the results is cont- ained in a report of incidents from May 24th weekend to Thanksgiving and indicate 25, 000 warnings issued, 4, 300 people evicted and 967 charges laid. There was a total of approx imately $23, 000 worth of petty thefts Ontario Water Resources will be asked to send a representat- ive to meet with council to dis- cuss the water and sewage syst- ems. A request for building permit for an addition to his house and garage was approved for Howard Allen, of Brucefield. Council approved the new fire agreement establishing the Clinton fire area which will provide fire pit`btection to the town of Clinton and certain areas in the surrounding town- ships of Goderich, Stanley, Hullett and Tuckersmith. Passed for payment were accounts totalling $220, 859.58; which includes tax levies to the County of Huron of $107, 401.00 Huron County Board of Educat- ion $80, 187.30 and Huron -Perth County Separate School Board $5, 320.41. Council approved a resolution to the boards of education that school rates continue to be paid twice yearly on June 30 and Sept 15. G.V. The preliminary report of the Dill Drain (estimated cost 833,75 0.) and the DeJong drain (estimated cost $3, 300.) will be discussed witli the owners involv- ed at the December 18, meeting.
