The C.O.C. of Carmel
Presbyterian Church met Sunday
mroning in the church basement.
New leaders for this group are
Donna Bell and Cherri Bonthron.
C.O.C. scarves were made and
presented to the group, A Christ-
mas party is planned for the
December meeting.
Selections from the Youth
Choir highlighted the Sunday
service of worship in Hensall
United Church. The choir under
the direction of Mrs. Norma
Pryde and assisted by Brenda
Pepper sang two numbers.
Wendy, John and Sandra Dixon
sang a number alone. The sen-
ior choir sang the anthem "They
that trust in the Lord" accomp-
anied by Mrs. Turkheim at the
organ. Rev. Don Beck preached
on the sermon topic " Desire for
Certainty." Next Sunday will
be Advent I with the Sacrament
of Holy Communion. The
History of Hensall United
Church has been compiled by
Mrs. Mabel Shirray. It was rec-
ently distributed to the congreg-
ation in booklet form.
The Anglican Church Women
of St. Paul's Anglican Church
was held at the rectory in Exeter.
The president, Mrs. G.A.
Anderson, opened the meeting
with the member's prayer, and
the Lord's prayer.
The minutes were read and
approved. A report on the
bazaar and bake sale was given
and was most gratifying. The
19'74 calendars were distributed.
The roll call was answered
by "naming six things we have
to be thankful for." Mrs. A.
Reid took the study, "make
friendliness your aim."
A Bible study followed led by
Mrs. Anderson. The meeting
closed with the Grace.
The Explorers of Carmel Presb-
yterian Church met on Sunday
morning, to blast off their wint-
er program. Space Probe I "Be-
coming Aware of Others" was the
theme.
Leader Mrs. Al Hoggarth wel-
comed the crew. At the corn-
mand module, the crew enjoyed
a game of observance, then for
Orbit I, Murray Taylor and Paul
Hoggarth made and described
a space rocket.
For Orbit II, Darlene Faber
retold the story "A sister watch-
ing," and for Orbit III Bruce
Thompson and Greg Hoggarth
prepared and presented the
worship.
Announce grant
for Ausable
The Honourable Leo Bernier,
Minister of Natural Resources
for Ontario, and Jack Riddell,
M.P.P. for Huron, announce
the approval of a provincial
grant in the amount of $7, 400
to the Ausable-Bayfield Conserv-
ation Authority for realignment
of a portion of the Bayfield
River at Clinton.
The existing channel has sharp
bends and constrictions causing
obstruction by floating debris
and ice. The proposed realign-
ment of rhe channel will reduce
the potential flood and erosion
damage in the area of the town's
pollution control plant.
The town of Clinton has been
designated as benefiting and
will be levied the Authority's
share of the cost.
