INTERESTING HAPPENINGS IN ONTARIO'S PRETTIEST VILLAGE
October 6, 1973 at 4 o'clock
in St. Andrews United Church,
Ripley, was the date chosen
by Sherry Lee Stewart, daught-
er of Mr. and Mrs, Gordon Ste-
wart, R.R.2, Ripley, and Gilb-
ert Robert Farrell, only son of
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Farrell,
Sarnia for their double -ring
cerenr ony .
The bride was given in
marriage by her Mother and
Father and entered the church
while the guests sang "Praise
My Soul."
Her gown was floor -length
with prencess bodice, bateau
jewelled neckline, lily -point
sleeves of rosepoint lace and
nylon tulle. Her elbow -length
veil of scalloped tiered tulle,
was held by a matching pearl
and sequin crown. She carried

St. Marie School students of
St. Joseph entertained at the
Blue Water Rest Home on Nov-
ember 7. Parents and friends
accompanied the grades seven
and eight students.
About twenty-one students
sang about our own Canada,
Something to sing about and
J'entends le Moulin. Four boys
and four girls did a square
dance. A play, "A Letter to
the boss, was presented.
A number of girls dressed in
colorful long gowns and turbans
did a folk dance that originated
in Israel, " Shiboleth Basadeh':
A comic skit, Can't get there
from bere, was interesting.
Five girls did a creative
dance "Life". The group of
twenty-one sang a Mexico song
Cielito Lindo, and another
Israel number, Shalom. The
teachers and leaders assisting
the students were Mrs. Zyluk
and Mr. La Victoire.
Seventeen Auxiliary member:
attended and donated items for
the November 24 tea and baz-
aar. Final plans were made for
members to be on duty in the
tea room, kitchen bake table
and bazaar tables.
The auxiliary members will
assist at the Christmas Party
and hold their regular meeting
on December 6.

Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Erb
who have moved to Zurich
recently were pleasantly surp-
rised when neighbours, relat-
ives and friends gathered at
their home for a social evening
Lunch and refreshments were
served. Their friends and rel-
atives wish them many more
happy years in their new home
in Zurich.

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Field;
of Roland, Manitoba, visited
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Penhale
one day last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd McGee
of Wroxeter, visited Miss Gertie
McGee on Sunday last.

Maid of Honour was Miss Col-
leen Cardiff, Brussels, cousin
of the bride. Bridesmaids were
Ferne Aitken, Kincardine,
friend of the bride and Mary
Anne Farrell, Sarnia, sister of
the groom. Junior bridesmaids
were sisters of the bride, Bon-
nie Lu and Ruth Ann. All wore
identical gowns of aqua blue
crepe, trimmed with white and
blue daisies, high neckline and
short puffed sleeves. They all
carried a single long stemmed
red rose.
Groomsman for his cousin wa;
John Farrell, R. R.2, Ripley,
Dale Stewart and Ken Stewart,
R.R.2, Ripley, brothers of the
bride, were ushers. Acting as
Junior usher for his sister was
Mark Stewart. All wore blue
brocade jackets, dark trousers
with ruffled shirts and bow ties.
Rev. C. Carnochan was off-
iciating minister. Mrs. Shirley
Harris, R.R.2, Ripley was org-
anist and uncle of the bride,
Glen Sturgeon, Bayfield, sang
"Amazing Grace" during the
signing of the register. Mr. Bill
MacDonald, Paisley, in full
kilt, piped the guests from the
church.
Following the ceremony,
a dinner for 110 guests was held
in the Bruce Inn, Kincardine,
with the bride's mother receiv-
ing in a gown of autumn tones
with gold accessories, assisted
by the groom's mother in a
bronze and orange gown with
gold accessories. Ed Young,
Toronto, uncle of the groom,
acted as master of ceremonies.
Guest speakers included, neigh-
bour of the bride, Walter
Pollock and uncle of the groom,
Glen Stanley.
A reception was held in Rip-
ley Township Hall following
the dinner. The bride changed
to a mint green pant suit with
black accessories for a trip to
points ih Northern Ontario.
The couple are residing at
R.R.2, Ripley.
UNIT 1 UCW
The November meeting of
Unit I of the United Church
Women was held on Thursday,
November 1, at the church.
There were 17 members present
The Devotional exercises
were given by Mrs. Duggan
assisted by Mrs. Makin. The
theme was "If God be with us
who can be Against us?"
A short business meeting was
held at which plans were made
for a joint Christmas meeting
on December 6. It was decided
to invite the U, C. W. 's from
Brucefield, Zurich and Kippen
churches.
Tea was served by Mrs. E.
Metcalf and Mrs. B. Burch.
Mrs. Makins closed the meeting;
with a Benediction.
4-H GIRLS

At our last 4-1-1 meeting at
Mrs. Garrett's we practised our
play for Achievement Day and
made plans for the party. Cathy
Merner and Kathy McFadden
made spice drop cookies. Fri-
day night we all went to Mrs.
Garrett's for a party. We took
food that we had made ourselve
Norma Garrett and Dawn McLet
decorated the house nicely with
streamers and things, and after
supper everyone helped clean
up and do the dishes. This was
to close off our project "A
World of Food in Canada."
The regular meeting of the
Board of Management of Trin-
ity Church held Tuesday even-
ing, November 6, in the Parish
Hall, heard the Rector Rev.
G. Youinatoff, thank the lay-
men who looked after the churcl
services during his absence;
also learned that the Rememb-
rance Day Service would be
held in the Church, November

In Consecration of the new
Bishop, Ven. T.D.B. Ragg,
will take place in St. Pauls'
Cathedral in London, January
25, 1974. A certain number of
tickets will be allocated to
each parish and buses will be
made available to and from the
Consecration Ceremonies. A
motion was passed to send a
gift to the new Bishop from the
Parish.
Great Chapter will meet
Wednesday, November 7, in
St. Paul's Wingham and Fred
Hulls, Gordon Graham and the
Rector planned to attend.
The Rector is still appealing
for the loan of pictures of
former Ministers of Trinity
Church, Bayfield, so they may
be duplicated for the 125th
anniversary in 1974.
The next meeting will be
Tuesday; December 4, at 7
p.m, in the Parish Hall.
Cpl. and Mrs. Stan Smith
and Lisa Borden and Ivirs.
David Veysey and Chris of
Barrie, were with Mrs. Smith's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.J.
Larson from Thursday to Sunday
Ed Rowse and Jim, London,
accompanied Mrs. L.B. Smith
home on Saturday after she
had spent more than a week
with them.
Mrs. Fletcher McLaughlin,
Meagan, Alfie and Courtney
and Dorothea Thompson, Tor-
onto, spent the weekend with
Mr. and Mrs. Fred LeBeau.
Mrs. LeBeau had returned from
Toronto after being with her
family for the past week. Also
visiting the LeBeau's for the
weekend were Bob Cluff, Rob
and Tara, of London.
Michael Scotchmer, Guelph
and Mr. Calvin Scotchmer,
London were with their parents
Mr. and Mrs. A.F. Scotchmer
for the weekend.
Donna and Lisa Johsnori, New
market, were weekend guests
of Diane Garrett.
Miss Wendy Greer, Wilfred
Laurier University, Waterloo,
spent the weekend with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. 13ert
Greer and Patti, R.R.3, Bayfiel
Saturday visitors with the Greer
family were Mr. and Mrs. Ray
Robinson, Randy and Scott,
Goderich.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Irwin
werein London Monday as the
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ulrnan
Bartello of Goderich.
Mr. and Mrs. D.J. Jeffrey,
London and Mr. and Mrs. Mur-
ray Andrews, Windsor, were
registered guests at the Albion
llotel for the weekend.
13111 Walker, London, entert-
ained his Graduating Class of
'72 Graphic Arts Course,
Fanshawe College, at his cot-
tage in the village and at the
Albion Hotel during the week-
end.
Saturday evening Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Parker, attended the
50th wedding anniversary c el-
ebrations for their cousin, Mr.
and Mrs. M. Herbert in Listow-
el.
Howard Scotchmer, Chatham
visited with his mother, Mrs.
L.W. Scotchmer, during the
weekend.
Mrs. Gordon Stewart, R.R.2,
Ripley, was a Thursday visitor
with her sister Mrs. E.W. Erick-
son and family.
