Unit 11 of Hensall United Church Women met at the church Monday evening for the November meeting. Jean Ware- ing acted as chairman and open- ed the meeting with the poem "In Flanders Fields." Elva Forrest presented the devotional entitled "The Indian Christian Church, " followed by a poem "The Cross is lifted." and prayer. The roll call was answered by twelve members with a Bible verse with the word "thanks" in it. Fran Mickle conducted the business which consited of the birthday party at the Blue Water Rest Home, November 13, for all units. General meeting is December 3 with guests being invited from Chiselhurst and Zurich United. Unit II is resp- onsible for lunch for this meet- ing Mock gave the study which was prepared by Dorothy Parker entitled "The Prodigal Son." Meeting closed with the benediction. Hostesses were Wilma Munn and Peggy Forrest. FAMILY SEES NIECE Tom and Jean Towers and family of Hensall had the pleas- ure to see their niece, Miss Susan Towers, on Television on Sunday. Susan had the distinct- ion of having her poem on Remembrance Day judged as best and as a result had the chance to parade in the Remem- brance Day Parade in Ottawa and also the chance to read her poem and lay a wreath. Prime Minister Trudeau and Governor- General Roland Michener and other celebrities also attended that parade. Susan's home is in Moncton, New Brunswick. Mr. and Mrs. Desmond Ivey of Sarnia visited with Mrs. Daisy Ivey. Mrs. Laird Mickle returned home Sunday from Hamilton after visiting for a week with her son Charles, who teaches at the Sir John A. MacDonald Secondary School in that city. Rev. Don Beck preached on the sermon topic "Water from the well of Bethlehem. " for the Remembrance Day service of worship in Hensall United Church Sunday morning. The choir sang the anthem "A song of peace," with Janis Bisback taking the solo. November 18 is scheduled to be the Historica: Service. It is hoped that old records, pictures and other mementos of years gone by will be on display. If you have old costume of the period for the 125th celebration you are asked to wear them. The flow- ers in the church were from the Munn -Rader wedding. The fifth meeting of the Hensall 4-11 Globe -Trotters was held last Tuesday evening. The girls went back in time as they discussed the birth places of their ancestors for the roll call. This weeks topic was food from Italy and Eastern Europe, and•everyone enjoyed making pizza and eating it. 0 Sven -area accidents (continued from page 1) ital. At 11:15 p.m. a car driven by Randall Dayman, Kippen, coll- ided with a parked car owned by Joan Laframboise, London, on Highway 4 north of Exeter. Dam- age was estimated at $1, 400 by Constable Dale Lamont. On Saturday at 5 p. M. a truck driven by Clarence Knight, Hensall, was struck by a car driven by Douglas Eller, London. Eller and his passenger received minor injuries. Constable Al Quinn estimated total damage at $1, 300, A rash of cottage break-ins occurred at Lake Huron sub- divisions this week. Over $2, 000 worth of property was taken from five cottages at Oak- wood Park and Maple Grove, north of Grand Bend. Area motorists are again reminded to adjust their driving habits to the winter road cond- itions. The rash of accidents during snow storms is usually blamed on bad driving condit- ions. She opened the meeting with prayer, followed by scrip- ture from Matthew 25. Her wel. chosen devotional theme "The man with the one Talent, " was written by an eighty year old Christian lady. The story of Jesus and the man with the one talent, may be compared to the way we use or misuse our talent or talents. Julene then read the poem "The Road that counts." Hymn 500 was sung accompanied by Helen Goddard, at the piano. Kay Elder introduced her friend Mrs. Neil O'Reilly of Toronto, who with her husband spent some time in India and Nepal. Mrs. O'Reilly showed many interesting pictures of the way of life, and how they farmed. They had a two hour ride on a sure-footed elephant. They and another couple also went on a trek on foot for twenty-six days at Mount Everest, on the border between Nepal and Tibet. They travelled one hundred and fifty miles, accompanied by two porters who helped carry their equipment, foot, etc, camping every night. This was a new experience for them. The minutes of the October meeting were read, the offer- ing given and dedicated. Mild- red Kyle conducted the business reminding everyone of the group going to the Blue Water Rest Home on November 13; a meeting at Listowel United Church concerning the new study book, a combined busin- ess meeting of all units Dec- ember 3 at 7:30 p.m. previous to the regular Christmas meet- ing with our invited guests the same night at 8:30, Unit I has the program for this meeting. The group presented a gift to Mildred Kyle, the uiait leader, and also a wedding gift to 011ie Cooper who has been a very willing helper. Meeting closed with the Bene- diction.
