District Governor
visits Zurich
The Governor of District
A-9. Lions International, Ell-
wood Tucker, of Kitchener,
paid his official visit to the
Zurich Lions Club on Monday
night, for their regular dinner
meeting. The topic he chose
for his address to the Zurich
organization was, "Why are
we Lions?"
District Governor Tucker
was born and educated in
Waubaushene, Ontario and
moved to Kitchener in 1946.
He has been employed for the
past 27 years as a foreman in
the Engineering and Mainten-
ance Department of B.F. Good-
rich Canada Ltd.
He joined Lionism in 1954
and has maintained 18 years of
perfect attendance. Ellwood
has served on most committees
and was Building Chairman of
the Lions Lake Bellwood Youth
Camp in 1957-58. He served
as Club Secretary from 1963-
1967, and as President in 1968-
1969. Continuing to serve after
his term as Club President, he
was appointed Cabinet Secretary
for District Al in 1969-70 and
was elected Zone Chairman
9N in 1970-71. The following
year he was elected Deputy
District Governor for Region 9.
Lion Ellwood has helped org-
anize four Lions Clubs --Bridge-
port, New Hamburg, Oktober-
fest and Preston for which he
was awarded an Extension Key
Award by Lions International.
