A special thank -you is ext- ended to the Poth's who so kindly donated their time and efforts to raise $42 for the Ladies Auxiliary to Scouting and Guiding in the Community. HALLOWE'EN PARTY Judges Mrs. Len Apedaile, Mrs. Frank Burch and Miss Ruth Wallace had a difficult task Tuesday evening October 31, at the Bayfield Lions Club annual Hallowe'en party, awarding prizes to the many young people in costume. Prize winners were as foll- ows; youngest children in costume, Lydia Erickson, Kim Snell and John Leppington. Pre-school girls fancy; Julie Porter, Kelly Knights, Ray -Ann Scotchmer. Pre-school girl's comic, Kathy Haw, Luanne Erickson and Barbara Pyatt. Girls 6 to 8 years fancy; Ann Haw, Dawn Merner, Debbie Siertsema; Comic, Kathy Tal- bot, Lisa Taman, Lucy Talbot, Brenda Pyatt. Boys 6 to 8 years fancy; Rich- ard Scroggs, Gregory Scroggs, David Phoenix. Comic; Robbie Siertsema, Len Haely, John Garrett. Girls 9 to 12 years fancy, Kathy Merner, Wendy Penhale, Kathy Leppington. Comic; Terry Weber, Crystal Huffman, Sherry Phoenix. Boys fancy 9 to 12 years, Andrew Erickson, Larry Bunn, John McLeod, Comic; Kenny HAPPENINGS IN ONTARIO'S PRETTIEST VILLAGE Merner, David Hill, David Martins. Girls over 12 years, fancy, Laurie Peck, Connie Talbot, Pattie Greer, Comic, Sharon Bunn and Bev Cantelon. Lion Eric Earl played mel- odious strains of many old fav- ourite songs on his electric organ while the children parad- ed around the Town Hall. To round out rhe evening Lions members handed out treats of chocolate bars, potato chips, and apples. A sincere thanks to Mr. George Willits who so kindly donated the apples for the party. EUCHRE CLUB The first social evening of the euchre club was held in the Municipal Building, Wednes- day, November 1. Six tables of cards were played. Prize winners were ladies high, Mrs. Harold Weston; Low, Mrs. L.W. Scotchmer; Men's high, Mr. Fred Le Beau; low, Mr. Harold Dawson. The club decided to purchase a coffee -maker and also prep- ared the roto list for lunch. Hostesses for the next euchre on November 15 are Mrs. Carrie Heard, Mrs. George Brown, Mrs. Robert Blair and Mrs. Charles Bell. The November meeting of the United Church Women, Unit I was held at the United Church Manse, Thursday after- noon, November 2, with a good attendance. Esther Makins took charge of the Devotional period. Jean Campbell gave a very interesting paper on Jack Miner and his bird sanctuary at Kings- ville, Ontario; a family to which the public owe a great deal of gratitude. Esther Makins reported on the U, C, W. attendance. A fifty-five year old card was passed around. It had been written by Padre T. Colwell and sent to Mr. John MacKen- zie after the war of 1918. The favourite Hymn "Take Time to be Holy, " was sung. Jean Greer dealt with the bus- iness; Elva Metcalf gave the secretary's report and called the roll and Margaret Scotch - mer gave the treasurer's rep- ort. Carol Penhale reported on her attendance at the Huron - Perth Presbytery of United Church Women held recently in Brucefield. The. sum of $15, was voted for our adopted child for Christ- mas. Jean Greer closed the meeting with prayer. Mrs. Margaret Scotchmer, Mrs. Florence Dunn and Mrs. Jean Bell served a delicious lunch. Bayfield Minor Hockey group are busy trying to get their league underway. Hockey equip- ment, including goalie unif- orms, sticks, pucks, etc., must be purchased and with no funds in the kitty the group are plan- ning a Bingo for November 24 in the arena.
