The skating workshops are being held for the teachers so they will be better able to pass on skills to their students when the separate school pupils begin a program of weekly skating later in the year. The program has been furth- Reject VD teaching (continued from page 1) which is reaching epidemic proportions in the world today. For the past two years a special committee composed of Board members, doctors, nurses, parents, etc., has been studying the possibility of presenting a Family Life prog- ram to the separate school stud- ents as part of the curriculum. A presentation of this study was made to the board members a year ago on November 28, 1972, when ways of starting the program and costs were discuss- ed. In other business at the board meeting Monday drainage at St. Aloysius School in Strat- ford was again discussed. Howard Shantz, Stratford, reported landscaping at St. Aloysius School, Stratford is not completed and the equip- ment is not in the new gym as yet. Board members will deny a request of a clothing firm to contact the principals in the schools on having pupils (girls) wear tunics as a uniform. 0 Smile Baby banana: "Mommy, where did I come from?" Students in the Huron Perth system, attending grades kindergarten through four, will • begin weekly skating in the near future and continue to Christmas. Students in grades five to eight will take a similar though more advanced program, following the Christmas break. The first of the skating workshops was held at the Duf- ferin Arena in Stratford with the second evening of that class to be held November 7. Twen- ty-three separate school teach- ers are attending. The second workshop will be held at the Clinton arena November '7 and November 14 with 14 Huron Perth teachers enrolled and the final workshop is set for Zurich in early Nov- ember with an anticipated attendance of 16 separate school teachers. The workshops begin at 5 p. m. and run for an hour under the direction of professional skaters hired by the school board. Flyers open season with victory The Zurich Flyers opened their home schedule in South Huron Intermediate Hockey League action on Sunday afternoon with a convincing 6-3 victory over the Hensall Cascadians, They led 2-0 at the end of the first, and inc- reased their lead to 6-2 by the end of the second. Hensall came up with the lone third period goal. Paul Corriveau opened the scoring for the locals in the first session when he banged in a pass from Pat Bedard at the 7.29 mark. Two minutes later Kevin McKinnon scored when he converted a pass from Richard Schilbe by Rob Grant in the Hensall net. Ron Ilarvey opened the scor- ing for the Cascadians at the 4.49 mark of the second per- iod, when he banged in a pass from Fred Campbell. Three big goals by Richard Schilbe in less than nine minutes midway through the second stanza prov- ed to be the big difference between the two teams. On his first goal Schilbe scored unassisted, and then Ron Corr- iveau fed him the pass for his second marker. Kevin McKin- non assisted on the play which accounted for Schilbe's NOTE: Zurich home games start at 2 p.m. All other games start at 8:30 p.ni.
