Mr. J. Preeter, of Zurich,
shipped a carload of clover
seed to Toronto during this past
week, and the price is quite
favourable.
The Misses Pearl and Gerrie
Orrwein, of the Zurich area,
left for Detroit on Sunday,
where they intend to stay for
some time.
The patrons of the Exeter
Barber Shops are in for some
cheap shaves and haircuts,
since the barbers have gone
back to pre-war prices. Hair
cuts will now be 15 cents and
shaves only 10 cents.
Miss Emma Dickson has tak-
en a position as assistant post-
master at the Hensall office,
with duties commenced al-
ready.
Workmen have been busy in
Hensall behind the Town Hall,
as they plan to make it at least
five feet wider.
The town of Seaforth is cons-
idering the proposition offered
by a factory to set up for the
manufacture of yarn.

W.O. Goodwin has resigned
his position as the leader of the
United Church choir in Hensall,
a position which he has held for
a number of years.
Owen Geiger threshed his
bean crop at his barns on the
flax mill property at Hensall,
and the yield was good and the
sample splendid.
Fred Corbett, of Ilay Town-
ship, who recently purchased
a house on the farm of James
Green, has had the building
moved over to one of his farms
If you're buying jeans accord-

look out! The system does not
take potential shrinkage into
account. When either length-
wise or crosswise shrinkage is
higher than 30/0, the correct
size may pose a problem. In
all brands tested, lengthwise
shrinkage was greater than
cross -wise. Any manufacturer
using the voluntary Canada
Care Symbols system for care
labelling is expected to meet
standards of less than 20/o shrink-
age or stretching in either direc-
tion. But some brands bearing
the care labels do not meet

Leeland Willert, who has

sold his business to Mr. Francis
Kipper, who has been an empl-
oyee of the local bakery for
some years.
The Zurich Lions entertained
the children of the community
at a llallowe'en party last week
in the Town Hall.
Delbert Geiger and Lloyd
O'Brien were accepted as new
members of the Zurich Lions
Club, when the regular meet-
ing of the organization was
held.
Nine-year-old Donald Peter-
son, of Dashwood, suffered ser-
ious injuries when a car driven
by his father crashed into a
Iluron County road grader.
The entire village of Ilensall
is looking for the Hallowe'en
pranksters who set off the fire
alarm in the village at two
o'clock in the morning, and
woke up the entire populace.
At a meeting of the council
of the village of Hensall it was
reported that the 1949 assess-
ment was $58l, 445, and the
population was 677. (The ass-
essment is now over one mil-
lion, and the population over
900).

The council of the Township
of Hay, at their regular meet-
ing on Monday afternoon,
granted a request from the
police village of Dashwood for
an increase of $200 a year for
fire protection.
A surprise family dinner was
held at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Bert Horton, Sunday, for
Mr. and Mrs. P. MacNaughton,
on the occasion of their 25th
wedding anniversary.

Church Women was held on
Tuesday night in St. Peter's
Lutheran Church, Zurich,
Mrs. Arthur Conrad, of Water-
loo, was the guest speaker for
the occasion.
Jim Bedard, popular Zurich
bowler, set a new record for
kegglers from this area, un
Tuesday night, when he rolled
a near perfect game. His score
was 418. A perfect score would
be 450. Jim says he will keep
on trying until he reaches his
goal, that of a perfect game.
About 25 neighbours of Mr.
and Mrs. William Bierling
gathered at their home on the
Bluewater highway Friday even-
ing to bid them farewell prior
to taking up residence in Dash-
wood, and to wish them future
happiness.
