We are again on the brink of
a new month and the change of
time has hastened early evening
hours, and as we come into the
month of November, it brings tc
mind the conclusion of our sev-
enth year of operation and as
well our annual bake sale and
bazaar. A number of people
have asked the date of our baz -
aar and it will be held the last
Saturday of the month, Novem-
ber 24. I assume if anyone has
donations of baking or bazaar
items, they will be gratefully
received.

hungry for a nice apple right

say "thank -you" to Mr. lvIc-
Cly-utont for the basket cf apples
they received to eat along the
way.
Tuesday evening was film
night, and we are grateful to
Mr. and Mrs. George Iiaggitt
for assisting us with transport-
ation of the films to and from
Goderich.
On Wednesday afternoon a
bus load of our residents from
the hospital wing enjoyed a tour
of the area of Ilensall, Bruce -
field and home by way of Bay-

season providing a musical
program in the dining room.

afternoon during the week which
helped' to make the quilting
area considerably smaller. As
each day passes, the eyes of
some of our faithful quilters
here become a little more dim
and so the quilting becomes a
little less progressive.
On Friday afternoon, the

Mrs. Elva Metcalfe of Bayfield

to rhe residents and listen to
their comments, it is hard to
explain how thrilled they are to
be invited out for such -an occas-
ion. Although this was pretty
much of a ladies' affair, Mr.
Henry Flaxbard also went along
for the ride, and I ant sure he
also enjoyed the visit.

MPP bill
(continued from page 1)
Riddell called for all schoolbuse
used in Ontario to conform to
the standards established by tlic
Canadian Standards Association.
Furthermore, Mr. Riddell called
for increased padding and other
safety features for the interior
of schoolbuses. "Just consider
the inside of a schoolbus.
Where the law requires that
private automobiles must be
equipped with protective padd-
ed seatbacks, the schoolbus is
equipped with a rigid steel bar
that runs across the back of
each seatback at just the right
height to mutilate the face and
teeth of a child thrown forward
by a sudden stop or collision,
he added. The law also requires
that private automobiles be
equipped with seatbelts. While
seatbelts are probably not app-
ropriate for schoolbuses...pad-
ded armrests could be provided
to ensure that the child is rest-
rained within the passenger area
This feature should be combin-
ed with automobile dash -type
padding in the passenger area
and on seatbacl<s. The passeng-
er will thereby be held in the

passenger seating area and the
passenger seating area will be
fully padded, " the Huron MPP
went on to say.
Mr. Riddell concluded by
calling on the Legislature to
face its responsibility and act
to improve the safety of those
students who travel by school -
bus. We as Legislators have an
unshakeable responsibility to
take steps to satisfy that need.
There can be no more import-
ant task to come before this
Legislature than to protect the
safety of our children. I feel
confident that this House will
face that responsibility and leg-
islate this Bill into law."
